Laschet is premier minister of NRW, the biggest german province, since 2017. The comment at 3:22 that Scholz is the only one with long executive experience is therefor wrong.

@Frolickingg Germany does not bring in people. 2015 happened because refugees were already in Hungary. They weren’t brought in by Merkel, they were already in the EU.

They are center left. They are responsible for the introduction of minimum wage in Germany, the label left is adequate.

I think the most likely is traffic light (SPD-Greens-FDP). It is not even sure if Die Linke will be represented in the Bundestag (7% with the usual 3% margin of error is rather close to below 5%). Furthermore, die Linke is pro Putin and even doubted he is involved in the attack on Nawalny, while the Greens have a strong anti Putin stance.

@Ninjaananas different topic (and a subjective one). He objectively has experience in one of the highest offices in the country. If he is good at his job is another issue.

There is a different of being center left (SPD) or being the party that ran a socialist dictatorship, imprisoning their own population and torturing anyone who dares to disagree with them (die Linke, and before they rebranded themselfs: SED).

@Onneukbaar There is not only black and white, but a lot of grey. While die Linke is far left, SPD is center left.

@oskarherbst9354 Laschet was minister in the NRW cabinet 2005-2010, and is minister president since 2017. A decade a executive experience is more than none.

@LePudding. well, the AFD was born as an anti Euro (currency) party before becoming anti immigration. Their heritage is libertarian approach to economics (privatisation of pensions, health care) which currently causes conflict with the nationalistic wing of the party, which wants strong social policy which excludes foreigners. The Many corruption cases and dark money of unknown foreign origin did not help the AFD, too.

@prunabluepepper No they werent. It was the price to pay for the coalition. I remember the political discussion well, it is not so long ago.

@gergelybodi3728 learn how the wahlomat works. If you are 68% SPD and 58 AFD, May just mean that around a third of all positions AFD and SPD are the Same, while for 66% they disagree.

AFD is currently very busy in a civil war, which is never a vote winner. The right wing fights the far right (formally called der Flügel) and are losing. Furthermore, the German Verfassungsschutz (domestic intelligence in Germany) has officially started surveillance at the AFD (or are planning to do so, it is a federal issue and therefore complex). If you are a civil servant in Germany you get huge career problems if you are also a member in such an organization. Therefor, more and more respected members of the AFD are leaving. Last but not least, the one topic that made people vote AFD (IMMIGRANTS!!!) have become a non issue in public option. So the AFD is a one trick pony, if there is no immigration crisis, they are almost irrelevant.

It is considered a left wing party, as is are the Greens and die Linke. The political spectrum is wide, not only one party can be leftwing or rightwing.

@Ninjaananas wrong. SED is the predecessor of die Linke, be it members or property owned. It is the official predecessor, legally. Still a lot of old SED legacy to be found. It is only 30 years ago, so many people are still alive.

@איתןשי I would not label the German Greens left. They are center as well on most issues. Die Linke is far left, no question about it. AFD has been taken over by far rights and conspiracy theorists and is therefor not electable for a classic conservative. You may want to take a look into Freie Wähler, they are Part of the Baviarian government. Maybe they represent what you are looking for in German right parties.

@איתןשי I call a party far right that puts Holocaust deniers onto its list so they become parliamentarians (google Gedeon). The AFD was flirting with far right figures under Petry (which costed her the leadership). They have turned worse ever since. If you really want to go back to the conservative libertarian age of AFD, it is at the beginning with Lucke`s party of the professors. But that is a rather brief period. Of course the political spectra is a relative one. You might be conservative in one place, a communist in another, and a Nazi in a third (sometimes even at the same place, just depending on the person you ask). But for me, there are certain attributes that make a party far right: if their central message is hatred towards another group, be it ethnically, religiously or nationally while claiming that they themselfs are are superior, they are usually far right. Israel politics is a mess I must say. I see a certain lack of common ground between the parties, fringe parties having too much power, overall corruption and mistrust. Which is to be expected in a part of the world under constant threat of violence and war. But I hope with Netanjahu gone, there is now a time to find peace and common ground.

@Ninjaananas of course it is a fair argument, as it is factual correct. I have simple rule: never vote for a party that was in charge of a brutal dictatorship before. I do not want to bore you with my families history, but I have a strong opinion about die Linke/former SED and DDR, based on facts and experience. And I find it concerning that you try a victim narrative for die Linke, as the SED was never victim, always perpetrator.

@Ninjaananas you are aware that to this date die Linke does not disclose the whereabouts about billions stolen from the people? And that one person responsible is Gysi, very active politically? Don’t say die Linke has nothing to do with the SED when they, to this date, cover for its crimes (the DDR was a good idea! As a direct quote from the party), do not disclose the location of billions and have old SED members active in their ranks.

@Ninjaananas and here is your victim narrative: they had to join the SED, they only wanted to do good, there was no choice. Of course there was a choice! If you join a party that runs a brutal dictatorship, you are part of them, you support them. Or do you excuse people who joined the NSDAP, too? Did die Linke once Said: we as the SED committed crimes against humanity? No? Well, here is the problem.

@niklas5923 which would be the natural thing to do for the FDP. Remember last time, when the FDP left coalition negotiations? They got hammered by the electorate. They will take any chance to govern, as this is expected by their voters. How can the FDP explain it to their voters if Die Linke gets in government, when the FDP could prevent it? We did want to stay pure ideologically, so we let the communists take over?
