  2. I disagree. Unanimity is a fail save mechanism to protect small countries. Without it, they lose their right to decide and become colonies.

  11.  @miguelpadeiro762  the EU is a net benefit to all members. But participation and the ability to shape and control its development are essential. A Union of 26 nations can only work if all have a voice that is heard. Compromise is key, so all feel respected.

  15.  @ooi97  first, the council is not made up by the head of states (usually). I can not remember Queen Elisabeth II going to meetings before Brexit. More often, it is the head of government. Second, the council appoints a candidate for commission, which is then voted on by EU parliament. So the commission is elected by the parliament, while the council presents candidates.
