France has massive problems, it depends on electricity imports from Germany, and will so for years to come. 50% of French nuclear power stations are offline French EDF is massively in debt New power stations take decades tho build and are massively over budget Rivers are to warm, so plants have to work on lower capacity. It is ironic, but looking at import/export figures, France is an electrictx importer, while Germany is an exporter

@clnetrooper no, Germany exports electricity in winter to France, too, as due to heating, France needs more electricity. France usually exports electricity in summer time, but this is now not possible, either.

@Mekesi1 where do I lie? French reactors are in shut down (50%), and it needs to import electricity from Germany

First, most of European nuclear power is still working (France). Second, it is a rather stupid idea to start a nuclear power plant without safety testing first (takes 2 years). Third, you need the uranium, which also takes at least a year.

@demoniack81 and Russia invading Ukraine and cutting of gas aren’t extraordinary circumstances?
2
@Me-yq1fl The shut down of many reactors is due to corrosion. Which means the reactors are not safe. And as an result, due to Frances over reliance on its Nuclear reactors, it now produces less energy than it requires. It is a common occurrence, as the same issue occurred in many reactors.
2
@gordonprice695 this is incorrect. Germany produces 50% of its electricity by renewables. Both gas and nuclear account for less than 20%.

Of course it can. And nobody will freeze to death. EU is pumping gas in its storage, Germany alone has already 70% full. That is enough for a winter

@demoniack81 and everyone with single digit brain cells could predict that Frances nuclear plants with an average age of over 37 years is too old to reliably supply electricity to the country.
1
@Mekesi1 According to the head of ASN, the french nuclear regulator, fixing the issues will probably take years (Reuters, May 17, 2022, Fixing EDF's reactors corrosion mystery to take several years, French regulator warns). So how is this not a long term issue?

The only Nazis are Russian Wagner group

How do decommissioned reactors without uranium can be fired up?
1
Do that. It is great to live in a country where 20% of the population do not even have plumbing, and men die before reaching retirement age, trust me.
