  1.  @Polynom1995  It costs 2.5bn Euros for 3 months, which is less than the tax rebates for car lease via employer. It is sustainable, and could be continued if there is the political will. Tax substitutes for cars are much higher.

  2. I bought a ICE ticket from Cologne to Basel for 15 Euros. If you are flexible with your time of travel, you can buy tickets really cheap. If you take the popular route at the most busy time and buy it on the same day, it is expensive.

  3. Well, high rail fees for the popular routes, low or none for the unpopular routes to compensate? Or you demand of operators that they have to offer service to unpopular routes to get access to the popular ones.

  4. I am against one big mega origination, and efficiency by centralization is a myth. It will simply be a giant single point of failure. Let the European state owned rail operators compete with each other.

  5.  @rfldss89  which in turn would mean that the cheap tickets disappear, too. And by that, if I travel with family, car is cheaper than train.
