@imluvinyourmum So? What is your point? Total GDP is no measurement to classify a country as first world. Actually, it is rather meaningless without context, like population, GINI, and other factors. The point remains: Compared to other countries, smaller and bigger, richer and poorer, more or less population, US high speed railroad network is worse than other countries.

@imluvinyourmum Japan, Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, UK, Netherlands. All first world countries. USA is only 26th in total high speed rail network: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_high-speed_railway_lines Even Switzerland has three times the amount of high speed railways compared to the US. I correct my point: USA`s high speed railways are a joke compared to both other 1st world countries and even developing countries.

@imluvinyourmum US is lacking a high speed network for fast trains. Look at China, they operate it successfully and are a big country, too. But you need a government willing to invest, as private enterprises can not pay for the infrastructure, and that is why the USA train system is not able to compete to other first world countries.
