  1.  @meamzcs  It is dumb. If you are not a millionaire already, and you rely on your wages, as you need to be healthy to work to cover your cost of living, going private is risky. Your family members are not covered, if you become sick and can not pay the insurance fees anymore, you will be put in a basic tariff with LESS service. Any service the private insurance offers can also be bought by paying out of pocket, or add additional insurances. In case of an emergency, you will get exactly the same care and service, no matter what insurance you are in. Your health will not be better protected by private insurance. You just get more comfortable chairs, beds, and food.

  3. This is untrue. Dental care only Amalgam is paid to safe costs, nothing to do with safety. Experimental treatments are actually covered by German health care under certain circumstances, and Germany usually is one of the first countries to get new drugs.

A US doctor may have to pay millions in case of a medical error. If you want to compare cost of medicine, Insulin is a quiet sufficient benchmark.   8. Public Insurances are non profit. This is a fact. Doctors are usually self employed, the only exception are hospitals. Hospitals are mostly private (30% in public ownership), while this includes hospitals run by religious organizations. Profits are highly regulated. Costs of drugs and treatment are fixed. A private patient is a golden goose for them, yes. Because they are outside the regulated realm.
