  2. Spain was not slapped down on Gibraltar. It got a veto right to decide if the WA will apply to Gibraltar, too. You did not mention a much greater problem: the UK, due to its unelected House of Lords, does not meet the basic democratic standards required for becoming an EU member.

  4. The EU is there to protect its member nations interest. It is not in the interest of Spain that Gibraltar is a low regulated tax haven, and the airport is another issue of concern. The EU will not force to cede Gibraltar.

  5. The EU has clear rules how a nation can become a member. The UK will need to follow them, and it will be a long process.

  7.  @ShimmerUK1  The Republic of Ireland is a member of the EU, Gibraltar will not. A member has more rights than a non member. Simple.
