  1. The population may not blame the government, but still it usually reacts by voting for the opposition in times of recession. So I doubt that this is a risk the Tories want to take. Why they refuse to cooperate with other European countries is beyond me, so they may just gone insane...

  2.  @peterebel7899  Parliament chose to castrate itself. But is can also chose to enforce its will again. Johnson`s power is given by parliament, and it can be taken away. I agree that the UK is closer to an autocracy than any other western democracy, but it is none.

  3. Peter Ebel First, the UK is no autocracy, and therefor a recession is a huge risk for the Tories. Secondly, as currently can be observed in Russia or Turkey, recession decreases the population of the leaders and presents a huge risk, which they try to cover by military adventures.
