@cfdfirefighter when was this promised? russian leaders have always going back and forth on whether or not there was actually this agreement. If the USA was constantly invading countries around Mexico I would understand Mexico seeking a military alliance. Ukraine did agree to be neutral and russia agreed to not invade them but when russia invaded them without them looking to join NATO what was the point of the agreement? Is Ukraine not allowed to be interpreted in national security?

@cfdfirefighter yeah and russia "said" it had no intentions to invade Ukraine a week before the 2022 invasion. Maybe get a written agreement? Genscher obviously did not speak for the countries outside of outside of NATO and that's what matters.
