See her contemptuous look at the Ice Princess. "She's the kind of girl who picked on me in school."
3
That's really insightful.
3
@gerardoalvarezdelcastillo9688 Do you think that they and the Poodle Lady would have escaped? I came up with a scenario in which the latter does just that.
3
"Ass gun..." heheh. Hyphens are important!
3
She mostly speaks in a monotone, but when she realizes that something is wrong, and says so, her slight change in tone is a little startling.
3
@Commander_Shepard. When her monotone just slightly changes when she realizes that something's wrong, it's very effective. It's so small, but such a contrast.
3
@GregOrCreg It's a look of contempt. "This ditzy bimbo is the kind of girl who picked on me in school, called me a freak..."
2
All the remaining members, anyway.
2
She always stuck in my mind, specifically the very slight change in her (mono)tone of voice when she realizes that something's gone awry.

@CROSSTATT In this movie it's made clear that Cobblepot was basically reared by the circus as he traveled with them; he was the "Aquatic Bird Boy."

He knew to play it straight.

I've always appreciated how the slight change in the Poodle Lady's tone of voice says so much.
2
Hehehe "ass music."
2
The slight change in the Poodle Lady's monotone says so much.
2
Do you think she escaped capture? I came up with a really interesting scenario in that regard.
1
They were on the road for years, a group of marginalized people in a marginal form of entertainment. They bonded, and maybe they decided that the world owes them something. With that said, while I have not seen the full movie since it came out, it looks like they don't outwardly display emotion as their comrades are caught (and sometimes killed).
1
@guileniam Sure, but there is also some mean-spirited violence in it.
1
Her monotone changes slightly, and the effect is so strong.

@J-Boog9 "Saw," not "seen."
1
I think that this area is part of the old zoo. I could be wrong.
1
@GregOrCreg Consider it this way- The Ice Princess may well have been a sweet, kind girl who grew up into a nice woman. The Poodle Lady is just making these assumptions about people, as she's angry at a world that (she feels) has always ostracized her. Think of Daria (or Holden Caulfield) sneering at the "phonies," but taking it in a much more toxic direction!
1
@GregOrCreg I thought that it had more depth and wouldn't be hackneyed. I've never seen the "making of" material.

Do you think that she would have avoided the cops? I came up with a scenario like that.
1
The slight change in the Poodle Lady's monotone says so much.
1
Except the Bidens don't pretend to be business tycoons. See how the Trump organization got busted in the NY fraud case.
1
Yeah, you could call it an ass movie, considering Michelle Pfeiffer's outfit.
1
Me too. I imagine a particular scenario as to how she could escape in the end. You'll notice that she flees when she realizes what's coming.
1
@DeadlyAlienInvader He kills people in the previous film as well.
1
@DeadlyAlienInvader That was reminiscent of the character's origins.
1
It's even more interesting now that I've realized how heavy missiles are. They would have to be glorified fireworks! Cobblepot would be too crazy to grasp that his attack would not be as he envisioned, but would the other characters even have a moment to stop, think, and realize it?
1
The slight change in the Poodle Lady's monotone says so much.
1
Note that the subtle change in her monotone (when she realizes that something's wrong) is very effective.
1
Danny Elfman is extraordinary.
1
Some are arrested, others might be dead, and as someone else mentioned, this bunch at the table might be the "officers," if you will.
1
He probably designed it with that in mind.
1
The slight bit of emotion that creeps in then, and after, make such a difference.
1
If you get a chance, read Mad Magazine's parody, "Buttman Returns." There's a moment during the Batman vs. Catwoman fight- "Sharing dialogue balloons is kind of sexy!"
1
The circus members reared him.

Lack of punctuation is a crime in and of itself.
1
@afriendofbean Your comment reads like the speech of someone who is full of amphetamines. It's almost incoherent.
1
@afriendofbean Not so. It's not necessary to put an article before "lack" at the beginning of a sentence.
1
The subtle change in her monotone is so effective.
1
The plan failed, there are only a few of them left, and Batman is about to show up.
1
That's Danny Elfman for you.
1
True, but it is really mean-spirited and violent.
1
I find the slight change in the Poodle Lady's tone very arresting.
1
He was reared by the circus.
1
I saw it at 10, and I suppose that I was fine also. Still, it is really mean-spirited and violent. Some kids were really upset.
1
Punctuation is a friend to all humanity.
1
It's not the Batwing.
1
You edited this comment but didn't add punctuation while you were at it.
1
@b_side8669 There's much more missing than that! That's painful to read; it's logorrheic. Also: *your.
1
He was reared by the circus, while being one of their sideshow attractions, a "little bird boy."
1
This scene, and the movie in general, get more interesting when one realizes that missiles are heavy. Those things would have to be just glorified fireworks for the penguins to be able to carry them (not to mention the backpacks)! The casualty estimate makes no sense. Cobblepot is too loopy to grasp it, but who else was even in a position to think it through?

That really depends on the species. Yeah, some of them shouldn't be there.

She speaks in a monotone. When it changes, even so slightly, the effect is strong.
1
Quack.

1
The Poodle Lady suddenly has some emotion in her voice.
1
I *saw
1
And when her monotone changes, ever so slightly, it says so much.
1
@Landofnothing If she got caught by the authorities, I wonder if she would be out of prison by now.
1
Note that her slight change in tone (when she realizes that something's wrong) says so much.
1
The former is dead, and the latter are either dead, arrested, or (just a few) on the run.
1
Yes and no. This one is really mean-spirited and violent.
1
Ass sub? That could be awesome, or it could be horrible.
1
Not literally.
1
Figuratively.
1
@danfors1333 I think that she fits perfectly. Her subtle change in tone is really effective.
1
@Commander_Shepard. Good point. Groupthink is the converse of teamwork; everyone is unwilling/afraid to contradict the leader, so everyone goes along with it. It takes a shock to break the hold it has on people. (Plus, the plan is ridiculous. Although she gives that wild casualty estimate, missiles are *heavy*, and those packs would be also. They have to be glorified fireworks!)
1
must *have
1
I don't know about the last question, since I have not seen the movie in full since 1992, but notice that the penguins are wearing things on their heads, interfacing with their brains.
1
I wonder if she would have escaped, or been caught by the cops.
1
Schrek had him killed, hence the clumsy lie about a vacation.
1
A lot of people say that. The script makes it clear (perhaps briefly) that the Penguin was the "Aquatic Bird Boy" in the circus. He eventually co-opted them.
