It's been happening for years around the country.

This happens around the country.
2
@edwardruff7927 Yeah, there are similarities.
2
No, it's just a trend that's happened around the country over the last few years. They usually roar around wildly, and in this case they messed with the police by just slowly riding ahead of them, ignoring them.
2
Juvenile delinquency is actually much less common now than in previous decades.
2
Joe? This has been going on for years, in many parts of the country.

That fat guy probably has terrible sleep apnea.

@aldonco As I understand it, the no-chase policy stems from a fear that chases will put civilians in danger, which is perfectly reasonable to me.

It's a dash-cam.

@saintpreferred9223 The first sentence is correct, the second is not. CA ranks very well on most quality-of-life measures. Its problems are very serious, but wildly exaggerated by detractors.
1
No, but if there was an agitated confrontation with a mentally ill person, that would be very helpful.

That's silly. The Great Crime Decline that began in the 90s is still with us.

@choppermike3329 Why the laughter?
1
@choppermike3329 Have the police actually been defunded? There's been an uptick in violence over the past 18 months or so, but again, the longer-term trend of declining crime has not reversed.

This has happened all over the country for years. It also has nothing to do with police budgets.

@danielheartsill4269 CA is a victim of its own success. The cost of living, specifically housing (supply & demand) spiked and then the damn NIMBYs get in the way of building new housing. They're the ones to blame and oppose, politically speaking. The Red states in general rank the worst in most standard-of-living measures, often much worse than CA.
1
@Indiansmoke1 Silly. This has been happening for years.
1
@asmodeus1274 Why do you laugh? Where was I incorrect?

This happens all over the country. People do get caught, and while I don't know what the penalties are, the vehicles are then destroyed.
