I started to question things when I learned about Irgun and Lehi (the Stern Gang) killing British peacekeepers in Palestine just a couple of years after the British military did so much to defeat Hitler. Lehi goons even murdered Count Folke Bernadotte, a diplomat who was trying to work things out; a few years earlier he was able to pull some strings and save thousands of people from the Holocaust! Even though the "respectable" Zionists didn't fully agree with them (at one time trying to hunt the members down and lock them up), all was forgiven as soon as independence was declared, and get this- Menachem Begin was in Irgun, and Yitzhak Shamir was in Lehi/Stern!

  5. Exactly; I am 50% Jew and 0% Zionist. I know people who see Hamas's actions as justifiable ("there are no innocent colonizers"), but I can't support doing that to civilian targets.

  9.  @soulsol94  Carrying out ethnic cleansing is not defense. I'm referring to not just what's happening right now, but also what happened at the state's founding. Many of the Zionist leaders of that generation were pretty explicit about what they were doing. Hell, so is historian Benny Morris, who goes on to say that said ethnic cleansing was necessary. Also, I'm not sure what makes Irgun and the Stern Gang (Lehi) any better than Hamas.
