What's that supposed to mean?
2
@Dontquoteme933 You're looking to win the Herman Cain Award.
2
@Mel-k7z4i The existence of that "heartbeat" is a misconception, and the issue is personhood. Babies have that, embryos do not.
2
@FREEDOM-qb8db How so? There's no harm in not being born.
2
It never left. Abortion harms no one, but remaining unvaccinated puts yourself and (more importantly) others in danger.
2
What the hell do you mean by that?
1
Embryos aren't babies.
1
So what?
1
@josephgagne4520 They do much more than that, silly.
1
They're not doing harm, they're helping their patients.
1
Embryos aren't babies, and god is imaginary.
1
@marcusmason1168 Yes, I was once an embryo, but so what? That was before I was a baby. Also, that has nothing to do with your deity, which is nonexistent.
1
@marcusmason1168 No, there's no such thing as either. Our ancestors made up silly stories, because they didn't know where weather and disease and whatnot came from. That's where we get religions.
1
@marcusmason1168 How so?
1
@spzaruba5089 Yes, by making it possible for Black women, and anyone, to get an abortion if they want to.
1
@spzaruba5089 What the hell are you talking about?
1
@jondiebe4193 Indeed; Malcolm X was a leftist, not a liberal.
1
@jondiebe4193 "Push abortion..." Nonsense.
1
True, but embryos aren't babies.
1
@Mel-k7z4i Embryos aren't babies; that's not a heartbeat, and it's beside the point. It's a question of personhood, not life.
1
@Dontquoteme933 Yes, the characteristics that make killing wrong. We all just assume that it is, but we don't usually interrogate the idea. I'm referring to things like sentience, the will to live, hopes & dreams, biological autonomy, and everything else that is taken away when someone is killed. In a rudimentary but real way, babies have that. Embryos don't, and cannot. There's no harm in not being born.
1
@Mel-k7z4i Personhood consists of the characteristics that make killing wrong: sentience, the will to live, hopes & dreams, biological autonomy, and everything else that's taken away when someone is killed. In a rudimentary but genuine way, babies have this. Embryos do not, and neither do fetuses.
1
@Utsav Joshi Are you trying to say that the characteristics of personhood arrive in the fetus stage? No, they don't.
1
Having an abortion is one way to be responsible. There's nothing wrong with it.
1
@FREEDOM-qb8db My mother is pro-choice. That's how I know that I was wanted. (It's not the only reason, but you know what I mean.) If she had had an abortion, rather than give birth to me, I would never know, nor care. I just wouldn't exist. There's no harm in it. (In fact, there's a compelling philosophical argument that the best possible outcome is to never be born, but that's beside the point.)
1
Not being vaccinated endangers yourself and (more importantly) others. Abortion endangers no one.
1
Embryos aren't babies.
1
God is just pretend.
1
Yes, as has everyone who opposes abortion. So what? There's no harm in not being born.
1
How so?
1
@Utsav Joshi Apples and oranges. Animals are sentient creatures, while embryos & fetuses are nothing of the sort.
1
@Utsav Joshi You're talking about sapience, but in any case, no, embryos and fetuses lack personhood. That comes later.
1
God doesn't exist.
1
@godlywoman7625 *You're "Too smart to be an atheist" is just insulting, and frankly backward, if you know anything about the demographics of religiosity & secularism. What are you asking?
1
@godlywoman7625 And who/what created your deity?
