No, why would you?
1
What does that mean? Jabonalopes?
1
Cops are under no legal obligation to help anyone, according to the SCOTUS. They may have decided that it would have been too unsafe to intervene, or they just didn't care.
1
@robertjohnson5893 Were they defunded?
1
@ronstar7027 Really, which state is that? If we're looking at intentional homicide, or violent crime in general, it's a mixed bag: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_intentional_homicide_rate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_violent_crime_rate
1
What's that supposed to mean?
1
No, that tends to provoke serious unrest! Seriously, how many examples do you need?
1
It's not that simple.
1
Beer tester What the hell does that mean?
1
Note that the Great Crime Decline that began in the 90s is still with us.
1
You're assuming facts not in evidence.
1
Were they actually defunded?
1
You don't know what you're talking about.
1
@bensmith7932 "Incentivized bad behavior..." I'm tired of that canard.
1
@bensmith7932 That's the point; your claim is a canard. Nobody is giving away money to make bad decisions.
1
@bensmith7932 For years I've read variations on what you just wrote. That's my point. It's a convenient narrative, but it's not accurate. Among other things, married Black couples began having fewer children, and the Drug War took away huge numbers of fathers, and rendered many more men unmarriageable.
1
The cops are under no legal obligation to help anyone, according to the SCOTUS. If they think it's too dangerous, or they just don't care, they won't bother.
1
That's not really what they're saying. People just don't realize that cops are not obligated to protect anyone, per the SCOTUS.
1
That's silly. Overall, the Great Crime Decline that began in the 1990s is still with us, even with the upswing in homicides since the pandemic began.
1
That's a canard. They are definitely concerned with this sort of thing. Google is your friend.
1
@wernherwalverklappen7823 Cut it out. The DHS warning pertains to political violence, not common crime.
1
That's a non sequitur. Also, "BLM thugs?"
1
The SCOTUS has ruled that cops are under no legal obligation to help anyone. Don't count on them.
1
@FredDurst1 Reported.
1
This is the part where her friends are supposed to enact revenge, but not on campus!
1
Were they actually defunded?
1
If you look at the country as a whole, juvenile delinquency is much less common now. Kevin Drum has done some great work on this.
1
@frizzlefry1921 We're talking about rates here, thus it's a per capita measurement. Changes in the Total Fertility Rate (or the Crude Birth Rate) don't make a difference.
1
Congo? Seriously?
1
?
1
Deport whom, and where?
1
Thankfully, no.
1
I've been telling people about that SCOTUS ruling, but that means that defunding doesn't change much in that regard.
1
This is a report about the police regarding this incident, but other reports are more focused on the perpetrators and the incident in general.
1
Jacksonville (for example) has also seen an uptick in violence, and it's run by Republicans.
1
According to the SCOTUS, cops are under no obligation to protect anyone.
1
*losing

They had abundant melee weapons, and several were caught with firearms and explosives. Some of the groups had detailed plans of the building, and arranged plans of what they were trying to do. There was heavy fighting all around the building, preserved on video by the attackers themselves. No, they could not have succeeded in and of themselves, but they came very close to lynching lawmakers, preventing certification of the election, and triggering a constitutional crisis. In the last few days, more things have been leaked from DOJ and the Pentagon, showing how this was just part of Trump's attempts to stay in power.
1
The police in London (UK, not Ontario) are mostly not equipped with firearms. Of course, guards at airports/train stations/etc. are carrying submachine guns, and the Royal Guards have battle rifles, but that's partially off the subject.
1
@rammrod9974 Is that happening there?
1
@rammrod9974 My question was: are criminals in London (or any place where most police have no guns) with guns preying upon unarmed civilians and a mostly powerless police department? Where has this alleged defunding taken place?
1
@rammrod9974 "Democratic-run cities.." I'm so tired of that canard. (Why do I see the same phrase over and over?) This uptick in violence is also happening in (for one example) Jacksonville, which is run by Republicans. You also know perfectly well that the social workers are for different situations involving mentally ill people in distress, and they have been very helpful. I don't endorse police at all, armed or otherwise; I'm interested in the approaches of places like Cheran, the town in Mexico where the people threw out the cops and the cartel crooks at the same time, and took security into their own hands. That's just one example.
1
Have the police there been defunded? Also, this uptick in violence has also happened in places like Jacksonville, which is GOP-dominated.
1
They did not.
1
You're being disingenuous.
1
He has talked about it at other times.
1
@cathyalford8674 Indeed, note that Malcolm X was a radical leftist, who knew better than to trust liberals.
1
No, it's not gone straight to hell. For example, in the big picture, the Great Crime Decline that began in the 90s is still with us.
1
Most of the city is fine.
1
The police are under no obligation to protect anyone. The SCOTUS has ruled on this more than once. Don't count on the cops for anything good!
