Karl Marx famously said that "Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary." His rivals on other parts of the left (such as the anarchists) all agreed with him, and that has held constant up to the present day. I was about to start naming examples, until I realized how long that list would be. Armed minorities are harder to oppress.

  45.  @derp8575  That's a canard. Crime rates aren't based on prosecutions, but on reports. Much larger parts of DC were no-go zones back then. There's no countrywide conspiracy among police to underreport crime rates. People nearly always think that crime rates are worse than it actually is.
