  5.  @jonnyfendi2003  The point is that "the point we're at as a society" (referencing the initial comment) is not that bad, all things considered. It was once a lot worse. There's no need for the culture of fear, nor the narrative of decline.

  6. Harsher punishments don't really work as deterrents. See how they do it in Scandinavian countries.
