  4. Non-Asian here; my parents definitely stressed education, and that was stressful enough! I can't imagine being in a figurative pressure cooker. Actually, I can imagine it, and it's terrifying.

  7. Come to think of it, as a White man, being labeled as an oppressor presents some choices. One can go out of one's way to not live up to that, although that does come with the risk of turning into a self-loathing PC SJW caricature (the people using "LatinX," for example). One can get defensive about it, which is awful, of course. Worst of all, one can own it. Sadly, that might be on the rise.
