  1. Lots of women are ordering misoprostol from abroad. Also, miscarriages can be induced safely (but inadvisedly!) via supplements available at any drugstore. An early abortion (the vast majority) are indistinguishable from miscarriages, and nobody has to give medical staff any particular details, and nobody should ever talk to the police without an attorney. None of this is ideal, of course.

  4.  @brentharrington9235  Why do we say that killing is wrong? This debate doesn't get far because most people don't really look into that question. It's a question of personhood. You and I have this, newborns have this, but embryos and fetuses don't. I'm referring to the criteria that make killing wrong- sentience, the will to live, biological autonomy, and everything else that's taken away when a person is killed. There's no harm in not being born.

  10. Elevated Access is a group of volunteer private plane pilots who will, all for free, fly women to places where they can get an abortion, and then take them home. They can always use volunteers, and, of course, donations.

  11. People are also leaving MS and LA. CA (and to a lesser extent NY) are victims of their own success. They rank very well on the Human Development Index (measures of well-being), although not as well as New England. They've become very expensive as a result. CA's damned NIMBYs have done so much to prevent housing construction; it's infuriating. The lesson here is that neoliberal capitalist parties are unable to address these human needs.

This debate doesn't get very far in large part because few people really stop to think about what makes killing wrong. Human embryos and human fetuses are of course human. The difference lies in the characteristics by which we usually judge killing to be wrong: sentience, the will to live, biological autonomy, and everything else that is taken away when someone is killed. In other words, personhood. Newborns have that. It's rudimentary, but it's genuine. Embryos and fetuses do not and cannot. There's no harm in not being born, and nobody minds it. As for the religious stuff, not everyone gives any credence to your commandments (isn't your "holy" book full of killing and outright genocide?), and I shouldn't have to explain why religion is not in any way tied to ethics in the real world. This is a point refuted a thousand times.
