  4.  @kayakeraltamaha5720  Babbit was breaching the last line of defense before reaching a large number of trapped lawmakers and staff. There was a very large mob behind her. The police knew that the attackers had lots of blunt instruments and chemical sprays (and the officers didn't know that some of the people in the mob had concealed handguns and blades). Even if Byrd and the others had been armored, they could not have stood against the mob. He had to do it.
