What about them? This is not either/or. A great many homeless people (NYC's homeless situation is not too bad at the moment) won't go into shelters anyway, and that's understandable. The places are dangerous, and their curfews make it difficult to find/keep a job.

PP's patients, mostly low-income, are able to access its services (contraception, and various other healthcare) thanks to Medicaid. That saves us all a lot of money! Do I have to explain how? Due to the Hyde Amendment, no tax dollars can fund abortion, unfortunately. These places shouldn't receive any funding, indeed they shouldn't exist, as their staff lie, shame, and delay (running out the clock).

Not only do they lie to women to try to convince them to not get an abortion, they also trick women intending to go to their abortion appointments into coming to their locations, which are often very close to legitimate clinics, have similar names, and even look similar. Some women have reported being given tea and chocolate, when they are supposed to fast before their appointments. The staff are known to wear white medical coats despite not being medical professionals, and they then drag out their whole process. This causes missed appointments, and otherwise makes things doubly difficult for women who have had to travel long distances, take time off work, arrange childcare, etc. Off-the-shelf pregnancy tests and ultrasounds administered by amateurs (who have been known to tell women that their pregnancies are further advanced than they actually are) are hardly prenatal care. As for the most important part, the lies, that's not in dispute. @FigsForYou These people are not illegal immigrants, but that's beside the point. Taking one job doesn't mean that it takes one away, except in the very short term. Not only that, but migrants are very often better candidates for low-skill jobs than US citizens are (if US citizens are applying in sufficient numbers anyway). You must know how difficult it is for managers to get good help these days. There is no "lump of labor," no matter how many populists on the left or right promote the idea.

Some of the attackers had blades, quite a few had chemical sprays, some used tasers/stun guns, and of course they had hundreds/thousands of blunt instruments. They came within a few yards and a few moments of lynching lawmakers, preventing certification of the election, and causing a constitutional crisis. The attack was premeditated, and it was the culmination of a months-long effort to overturn an election that Trump admitted to losing. We've seen a veritable avalanche of evidence, most of it from administration insiders. It's not in dispute.

Foster didn't point his rifle at Perry; he moved towards the car to investigate. After Charlottesville, and numerous other incidents since then, people are wary about what hotheads in vehicles might do. That also applies to armed reactionaries on foot; see the Normandale Park shooting. The point is that armed defense of protests, and defense of communities in general, is a necessity. Considering not just what Perry did, but what his statements show, it was more than reasonable for Foster and the others to be alarmed!

Note also that those are just the nonviolent charges, nor do they include things like conspiracy! Marching, taking it to the street, is assembly & speech; and permits inherently restrict that right to the more privileged. Protests have to raise a ruckus; they sometimes include things like locking down intersections, but are more often moving/roving.

Even those who did not (due to backlog, among other things) were eligible to ask for asylum from within the country. Getting authorization to work is part of the procedure to make refugees/asylum seekers less dependent on others.

If they were allowed to work, that would mean less dependence on assistance from the state and charities, and the benefits would be considerable according to economists across the spectrum. In nearly all cases they weren't able to save (are you serious?) especially if they had to pay coyotes. Note also that the US, Canada, and Spain are opening centers in the source countries where people can apply for asylum directly.

Afghan refugees are fleeing violence (in part created by the US), and the same is true of the people from Latin America. Your characterization of PBS is silly; if it was really government-run, don't you think that it would change noticeably between presidential administrations? If Mexico and/or other countries are not safe for the same reasons that are forcing people to flee in the first place, then they can keep moving. Note that the US, Canada, and Spain are setting up centers where people can apply from within their home countries, though I hope that you can understand why that's not feasible for everyone.
