  5.  @melaniyac  That's true in principle, but none of that supports a conspiracy theory about Pelosi (nor anyone) intentionally acting to make an attack (which came close to getting her and many other people killed) even worse than it was likely to be.

  7.  @ndgrad22  Because it's seriously, even deliberately, misconstrued. Conspiracy theories have done so much damage to this society. There was no call from Trump for a massive amount of additional security that Pelosi rejected; indeed, his words and deeds make it clear without dispute that he wanted the attack to succeed! This was the desperate but nearly successful culmination of months of attempts to overturn the election. Pelosi and (especially) her staffers nearly got killed; she had no motive (and I shouldn't have to point this out) to hope that any attack would be bad enough to make Trump look bad.

Not only that, but he knew about the weapons in the crowd (see the comments about the magnetometers), and yet he said that he knew that said weapons weren't for use against him. There was nothing spontaneous.
