  1. Not all conservatives are Trumpists. (Some like to argue that they are entirely separate things, but that's similar to "No True Scotsman.") Trumpists either have no problem with, or actively agree with, Trump's long record of racism, mocking the disabled, scapegoating of Muslims and migrants; Pence's homophobia and transphobia, Pence's backwards policies that essentially created an HIV epidemic in Indiana, etc. This isn't about policy differences, it's about hate.

  2. Re: Pence, first, you're committing the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. Aren't there non-Christian conservatives? Yes, if one's religion tells you to have a problem with people because of who they are (and yes, one's sexual orientation is a major part of who one is), then yes, it is wrong. Pence also has gone much further than that; note that, among other things, he has never apologized for endorsing the incredibly destructive nonsense of "conversion therapy." This is totally unacceptable. As for Trump, you may not like the news organizations I'm citing here, and I may not either, but there are links to everything. It's all sourced and cited. Note that just one of these racist incidents (like the bit about Judge Curiel) should be enough to disqualify him.   3. I don't claim to be a conservative at all! If you look at the PBS article, it talks about the more positive moments that you mention, which is why I said it's not all bad, but the negatives far outweigh the positives, and just one is too many. Also, liberals and leftists are two different things, and I don't like CNN any more than you do, but possibly for the opposite reason.

  4. @Mike Marek That too. WJC hopefully wouldn't get nominated today, and HRC's "superpredator" comments at least got notable negative coverage. I can't abide lesser-evilism.

  5. That division stemmed from the hysterical reaction to a President who was at best a centrist, if that. I wonder why they had such a problem with him... hmmm? What could it be??? /s

  6. The division, if not much older, started with the reaction to Obama. This (at best) centrist President was treated as if he was Mao, not to mention all the racist "birther" crap. Now we have a President elected on a wave of hatred.
