These car from Mercedes that are before I Believe it was 1996 (I may be wrong about that date so.....) The date is referring to the switch from Mercedes before the Chrysler/Dodge buy out or partnership or whatever it was. The cars Mercedes built before then were so very OVER ENGINEERED that they were Incredible in their reliability and every technological advantage they could fit into them. I'm not sure about how really great they were after the 1980's really. But I do know that the cars they were building in the 1970's and 1980's were AMAZING! I think this car is built on the same platform and the same quality as those. I had a 1973 280SE that had been imported from Germany by a Soldier to Canada where I live. I was blown away at not only how great it ran and drove but at the technology in it compared to anything happening in the USA and Canada at that time. It had a form of ABS brakes! It had a 4 speed automatic transmission. It had magnesium wheels! Fully independent front and rear suspension. Disks all around as well the 2.8Liter engine had GREAT POWER! I couldn't keep up to it when my roomie and I had to move my 1994 300ZX Datsun and the Merc. He drove the Merc and I could NOT keep up to him and he said he wasn't trying to even drive fast. Anyway amazing cars!
