Love the videos but the first step MUST be to warm up the engine for 15 mins before anything. That 10W 60 oil is THICK and it needs to be warm to drain out properly. I guess if you're letting it drain over night you could maybe get away with it but believe me it MUST be warm or you'll only get 5 liters or so out of the car. I know I do it every 5000 miles.

Nice video. That's not the end that usually people need the help with though. It's usually the center support bearing that people need to replace. The rear connection to the Differential is something I can't find any info on.

Great stuff coming from FCP Euro! Thank you! Being that this video came out a fair while ago now this comment may never be seen but IMHO there is a major lack of info and DIY videos etc on working on the XI versions of these cars. As he mentions in this video "If you doing this job (Turbo swap out) on the "X" version of this car it will be much more involved". Well we NEED a lot more info and help for those of us that have the "X" models of these cars. PLEASE. Thank you!

Great Comment! Thank you! There's almost NOTHING on X drive Trans fluid or Mechatronics work. It's Not a plastic pan like all of the others which is frustrating when you need to do any work on it.

So I'm gonna Guess that the Sliding pin at the back is the 7MM Hex or Allen type socket wrench and not the 5MM?? You don't tell us (Ooops LOL). Great video thank you!!

Why does no one ever talk about the Anti Freeze (Coolant) that companies make that are formulated for the specific cars. You can buy coolant specifically made for the Lexus Toyota Nissan Porsche GM Ford BMW Dodge etc. But make by say "Peak" or even Prestone" etc. Now I've been running these coolants in my BMW's without any signs of troubles or corrosion etc. They are WAY WAY less expensive (Sorry FCP Euro lol). But if we are not just doing these videos for all out sales reasons? Of course that's the main reason but don't we all love our Bimmers and want the facts to make them run right etc???

I have everything to do my valve lash but I'm still WAY over due! My fault.

Oh yea. It's a great investment. That's the road to self sufficiency in owning and saving thousands and thousands over the years to come! I don't take ANYTHING to the shop anymore and I started buying tools five years ago. I have had a little help from a friend in that I trade some garage room to work on his stuff and he lent me some tools when I needed some special types etc. The next thing you should invest in for BMW's or German cars in general are a set (well a couple sets of course it never ends really lol) Allen sockets and Allen Long ball end wenches. BEWARE! Many Socket sets DON'T include the 16MM or sometimes the 19MM or it can vary even for some weird reason. I think it's because they think they don't really need to as there are almost perfect corresponding Standard Units that cover those sizes. EG 1/2 inch socket (Or wrench) = 14mm Socket or 16mm? (or something like that I don't recall the exact size match ups). You may have already bought the "E-TorX" and "Torx" Socket sets. Those are VERY important and used ALL the time! Good luck and all the best!

Great as always FCP Euro! Thank you! However I'm confused about something. I've seen other videos showing the replacing of the Control Arms and the ball joint for it wasn't part of the control arm (They claim to be doing the X drive version just like you guys). It's actually attached from the top on the wheel assembly. It still looks like it fits in the same way but is a separate unit or part all it's own. What's the scoop on that??

No brake compression? My brakes are always always needing to be squeezed so I can take the caliper off.

It's "Character building" they said. It'll "save you Money" they said. You'll get "a sense of accomplishment" they said. You'll "Learn New skills" they said. They never mentioned the free, white, rubber, padded room and new jacket with the special tie straps at the back. Oh how happy I am......where's my 10 mill?...WHere's mY 10 MiLl??
