you must first understand that inflation means an increase in money supply, it doesn't mean "rising prices". until you understand that, nothing else will make sense.

@magick93 Yes, the two are related, but they don't mean the same thing, much like thunder and lightning. When you see lightning, you don't call it thunder do you? You call it thunder when you hear it.

@gfcardi Thanks. Once we accept this premise that inflation and money supply are separate, things get interesting when we start exploring the idea more in depth. For example, the natural tendency for prices to fall every year due to productivity gains from technology might be 5%, but if the Fed is pumping so much money into the economy to create "2%" inflation, they have essentially "inflated" the money supply by 7%, and they don't take into consideration the deleterious effects this has on the economy, such as funneling all of that created money to the ultrawealthy, among other things. In other words, our true inflation rate isn't 2%, it's likely 7%. Is it any wonder the wealth disparity has exponentially gone up since we've undertaken this "inflation at all costs" mindset?
