The state the country is now in all began in 2016 with the self inflicted economic sanctions and continued in 2019 with the British public electing Boris Johnson to "get Brexit done" in the misguided belief they were somehow going to stick the boot into the EU. This was their chance to possibly reverse things by consigning the Tories to the history books forever, But the typical english superiority complex and stubbornness wouldn't allow that to happen. I don't need to go into the facts and figures because they are widely available but things are bad and are going to get horrendously worse for the UK. The fact is the EU 26 have not been particularly bothered about Britain since it voted to leave in 2016, Almost a decade ago. The EU has long since moved on while the british are still arguing about whether they should have left or not.
