  1. My father's, and those of his brothers, records were lost in this fire. Likewise, my Father-in-Law and his brothers, lost theirs as well. Pettyfogging by the archivists that were scared of water basically wiped out generations of service records.

  2. At the time the building was designed and built, that was NOT the case. This was big enough a tragedy already, without adding scurrilous and ignorant accusations.

  3.  @crow578  as a veteran myself, and the son of a veteran, I've seen the VA evolve (devolve) over time. But most importantly, the records center is not part of the VA. It belongs to, and belonged to, the GSA. It's pretty fucked up to paint the NPRC-MPR with the recent shitty behavior of the VA. Keep your conspiracy theories elsewhere.
