  4. The electrical fire doesn't have to be very big to denature the wire rope to the point of failure under load, Especially if the wire rope were made of substandard materials to start. Heavy load, minor change in mechanical properties due to heat (and electrical arc fires are VERY hot!), and PING! Down comes the cable.
