  113. Russia doesn't really try to gain ground, they haven't announced big arrow offensives and we're totally ok with losing ground to save soldiers before. But Russia gaining more ground than Ukraine, despite big Ukrainian offensive is telling. Russia loses a lot of equipment because they can afford losing a lot of equipment, unlike Ukraine which flies on NATO supplies. And considering that Russia lost more equipment than richest EU countries have in total - west is unable to make Ukraine less terribly outgunned "All Ukraine must do is not attack" - no, Russia can afford not attacking because gaining ground isn't their goal. Ukraine is the one that wants to restore 1991 borders. The only reason why Ukraine stopped attacking - they run out of equipment and running out of soldiers "Russia is at it's top production" - how do you know? It's only been 2 years According to Mediazona, on average Russia loses 60-70 soldiers dead per day, including prisoners and PMCs Russia indeed started using a lot less shells, but it's still a lot more than entire NATO can produce. Entire EU barely manages to scramble 300k shells, tho they planned to give Ukraine 1 million Ukraine haven't destroyed a single Russian rocket ship. Just because they destroy some landing boat time to time - doesn't mean anything and doesn't reduce Russian abilities of bombing Ukraine. Russia also captured or destroyed 100% of Ukrainian fleet, so what? You can say that "Russia losing this and that" all you want. But the question is - can Ukraine outgun Russia? When Russia loses 50 tanks - it sucks obviously, but they can make new ones. When Ukraine loses 50 leopard 2 - will they receive another 50 ? Will they receive them before losing remaining 50? And it's not even a question of NATO's will, it's about NATO military production, which is dwarfed by Russian production. What capabilities Ukraine need, which they didn't had last summer, to overcome Russian defenses? Will they get it? Because if they won't get it - they will lose

  173. Any slow grind benefits Russia greatly because they have overwhelming artillery and aviation advantage. Obviously not every time small groups of attacking Ukrainians will get hit and obviously no-one will spam Ukrainian troops with artillery when they're next to Russian trenches. But when Russia makes small gain - they're a lot less likely to get bombed than Ukrainians. Trench is the best way to protect soldiers from explosions. Very few people are actually sitting in trenches on the frontline, mostly those are small groups who's job is to spot enemy, hit them with RPG and leave or wait for reinforcements. Quick modern warfare isn't working against dug in enemies with similar capabilities. NATO doctrine is only good against goat farmers "Recovery personnel easily secures damaged vehicles" - do you remember that famous picture with leopard and Bradleys around it? Ukraine tried to recover it and Russia also used that leopard as bait and more destroyed equipment was filmed in the same area. Doing such things is a common thing for both sides. Sometimes when certain piece of equipment can't be recovered or there's concern about enemy recovering it - both sides shooting their own abandoned equipment with artillery and drones Ukrainian troops have a lot less training than Russians troops because all Russians went through at least one year of training when they were 18 Attacker can have some sort of advantage. But there's a reason why Ukrainian blitzkrieg failed, despite NATO training, NATO equipment, NATO intelligence and NATO planning. What can you do if there were 3 guys in a bush with RPG and they destroyed your mine clearing tank? What will you do if second mine clearing tank was hit by helicopter? What if last vehicle in column was hit by artillery? No-one yet figured out how to fight modern wars against modern opponent more effectively than trench by trench

  197.  @jackneuman5108  1)Any country at war is loosing civil rights. Ukrainian man aren't even allowed to leave their country 2) Every country is corrupt, in west it's just called lobbying 3) You don't know what facsism is. Super presidential republic isn't facsism 4) After war started nothing has changed for Russians. Economy is doing ok and even western leaders admitted that Russia withstood sanctions 5) West also has crappy demographics, ESP Ukraine, since now they ask 2 million woman to return to Ukraine to increase GDP and birthrate. But last year Russia gained few million people in their new regions. That's one way to fix demographic issues 6) It's better to let mercs shoot few planes and let them go, than starting a fight and loosing thousands for no reason 7) All kids in Russian schools for the last hundred years were taught some military skills, like making AK or throwing fake grenades for example. Do you think army recruiters in American schools are also indoctrinating "Hitler youths"? 8) Putin haven't attacked a single country that wasn't bombing civilians at Russian borders. So if "Kazakhstan, wherever" not gonna start killing Russians - Russia won't invade them. Simple as that 9) What middle age mentality made NATO invade half of middle east? Or help Nazis in Ukraine? Or help terrorists in Afghanistan in 80s? Or invade Vietnam? 10) Invasion has nothing to do with imperialistic propaganda. Ukraine dammed the river to Crimea that supplies 80% of freshwater to the region, deliberately starving 2 million people. Zelensky threatened to build nukes on Munich conference. Ukraine kept bombing Donbas civilians despite Minsk agreement. And also Angela Merkel, Hollande, Poroshenko and Zelensky all admitted that Minsk agreement was made to rearm Ukraine for future wars, instead of stopping the war in Donbas. If Ukraine did nothing wrong - there would be no war now 11) "country that hates you and that you will never be able to conquer" - world has short memory, Germany was invited in NATO 10 years after starting bloodiest war in history. So yeah, after war is over - no-one will care about Russia gaining new regions

  224. @Boom.Desjardins  no, I meant BBC sponsored mediazona, according to their data there are less than 10k cases of desertion. If you have better data - feel free to share it "A country who bans all foreign media" - I guess you forgot that that Russia haven't banned anything until RT was banned in many countries and until western social media banned Russian sources and bloggers on YouTube, Facebook and twitter. Russia has BRICS with combined GDP larger than G7. They befriend China, India and Africa, which are 3/4 of world's population too. But yeah, I'd rather have a few weird true friends than a bunch of fake friends which will boss me around, blackmail me or tell me how I can or cannot defend myself. "x48 isn't much" - yeah, but it's acceleration. Wars aren't linear. The worse the situation for your opponent - the faster you move, the closer you are to favourable negotiations and achievement of your goals. Those villages and empty fields cost Ukraine far more than they cost Russia due to the huge Russian advantage in fire power. They were defended by the strongest army in Europe, armed by millions of drones and largest military alliance on earth. And yet Russia is accelerating and inflicting so many casualties that Ukraine can't even replace their losses despite snatching people off streets. Ukraine also has the best NATO air defence systems, but Russia is still bombing Ukraine like it's nothing. It's physically impossible to intercept 100% of targets, especially when you aren't closing the skies. What should happen for you to say that the Russian air defence systems are the best? What evidence do you need? Who's systems are the best of you disagree with me? How did you determine it? It's not the refinery that is burning, but 2 barrels of oil. It's annoying, but it's basically nothing for one of the largest oil producers in the world

  259.  @dylanc9174  Russia fires 70k shells per day, compared to 35k entire NATO sends them in a month. Their logistics is fine. Btw, Russia also shoots at Ukranian logistics and destroys dozen of ammo depots daily. Everything you said about Russia can be applied to Ukraine but for them it's far worse Russia doesn't have a lot of troops. In Kharkov Ukraine had 8 to 1 advantage according to some sources. And also huge advantage in the north of Kherson recently. If Russia supplies 100 people, 20 tanks and 10 artillery pieces in some part of the front, but Ukraine sends 500 dudes in vehicles to go around them in places completely free of Russian soldiers - those 100 people in tanks can't do anything except for retreating. It doesn't mean that they suffered huge losses and lost the fight, it just means that they had to retreat to not suffer huge losses after some time. Also Ukraine did the same thing at the start of the offensive few weeks ago, they captured big chunk of land in the North of Kherson and around Davidov Brod, suffered huge losses and retreated And when it comes to Russian gains - it was clear that they aren't trying to capture territory fast since week 2 Right now Ukraine looses a lot more men and equipment than NATO sends them. They are weaker than they were at the start of the war. It's just not hard to send people to charge in places where Russians barely have troops. I mean, Russia did the same in first days of war and captured territorial equivalent of Great Britain

  310. Ukraine haven't destroyed a single ship that launches rockets at Ukraine. How exactly Ukraine destroying some random landing ship during it's repairs helped them in any way shape or form? Obviously losing any equipment sucks, but if Russia actually tried some landing with that ship and Ukraine destroyed it - Russia would lose many soldiers and equipment. Don't you think it would be better for Ukraine to destroy it when Russia actually used it? So it's just another PR stunt with no purpose Russia does lose a lot of equipment because they can afford using a lot of equipment, unlike Ukraine. Do you realize that 3 guys in a tank will kill a lot more enemies and are a lot more likely to survive than 3 guys with AK in open field? And now we can talk about loss ratio. If one side has 10 times more artillery, 10 times more tanks and 100 times more planes - who do you think is losing more troops? According to BBC sponsored Mediazona Russia lost 39k in entire war, which is a lot. But for comparison in 2011 Russia lost 28k people in car crushes. That's why they can replace their losses and grow their military by only volunteers. Compare it to Ukraine which parliament wants to mobilize women and crippled, while kidnapping military age men to throw in the army and begging European countries to return Ukrainian men who managed to escape. How can Ukraine possibly lose less soldiers than Russia, considering that Russia has equal or superior analogues of Ukrainian equipment but in far larger quantities? According to western media - now Russia has 7 times more drones than Ukraine and it was the only advantage Ukraine had over Russia Just because you want something to be true - doesn't make it true

  327.  @danieldoherty1029  1) Not a single Russian official ever said that Kiev will fall in 3 days or that they will capture it at all. American general Milley said that Kiev will fall in 3 days without American help, that's about it. So you ate too much western propaganda, anyone who's saying anything about "Kiev in 3 days" is lying to you on purpose 2) Prigozhin said many things to discredit Russian MoD, doesn't mean it's true. Same goes for Wagner losses. Mediazona counted amount of Wagner graves too. And including them - Russia lost 34k in total 3) No, Wagner's head Utkin didn't had swastikas, there are like 4 photos of him in general. The only similarities between Utkin and guy with swastikas on his shoulders - they're both bold, but there's zero evidence that there's the same person. 4) Jew Zelensky still gave standing ovations to old nazi from SS Galichina division in Canada parliament, he let nazis from White Rex create "free Russia legion" in Ukraine, he also smiled to nazi azov leaders in Turkey. And btw, Nazism has nothing to do with jews, you can hate any race you want 5) Both sides are obviously lying about enemy losses, it's a standard war propaganda. Ukraine also claimed to kill and wound more Russians than they have in Ukraine in total 6) Yes, when your enemies are committing warcrimes by hiding in civilian areas - unfortunately civilian casualties and destruction of homes are imminent. That's the difference between Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine is hiding behind civilians and fighting for every house, while Russia evacuated 100k people from Kherson and left it without forcing Ukraine to damage it and fight for every house. Btw, do you think people of Crimea also want to be "liberated"? 7) Blinken said that aid for Ukraine is "on the end of the rope", Biden said that USA almost run out of artillery shells to send to Ukraine, majority of NATO countries also said that they have completely run out of equipment to send to Ukraine without taking it from active units. So NATO stockpiles are almost empty, tho surely they will supply them with stuff time to time, but it's barely gonna be enough to defence 8) Russia isn't attacking the most fortified place in the world every day, do they? Considering that they have tens of thousands of tanks in storage - yeah, they can replace anything, unlike Ukraine. Because they don't know how to fix western equipment, they don't have repair centers inside Ukraine, they don't have spare parts, they don't produce anything and solely relying on the west 9) "and now they mobilized another 300k" - Russia mobilized 300k 18yo every year, they aren't sent to Ukraine, it's just a standard conscription 10) NATO tripled Ukrainian budget in military spendings alone and for the past year Russia only has been fighting NATO equipment and money. 11) Bahmut and Kupyansk direction. You can find NYT article about gained ground if you want to 12) For me it was pretty obvious that Russia wanted to negotiate and bully Ukraine into letting go of Donbas and Lugansk, best way to do it is threaten Kiev 13) Waste hill is a highest location in the region, it allows to control supply roads. Maybe because of it Russia blew up few leopards in Avdiivka. Btw, it's funny how you're joking about "public toilet", considering that tiny village of Robotne held longer than Mariupol with 8000 of best Ukrainian troops 14) There's ZERO evidence that Russia did any harm to civilians 15) There's ZERO evidence that Russia bought weapons from North Korea. Their officials visit each other regularly. And since when it's against the law to trade with other countries? Why should Russia follow US sanctions against Iran? Btw, why are you switching topics so much? Have you realized that you know nothing about this conflict so you have you throw more propaganda bs on the fan to look less wrong?

  330.  @tunacanoe2143  Russia can hit anything stationary with artillery and hit anything Ukraine may want to rescue with helicopters. That famous picture with leopards and Bradleys gained more destroyed vehicles after Ukraine tried to rescue those leopards USA can indeed sent tons of Bradleys, but Germany stated that they can't send more leopard 2 because they don't have many of them left. So every leopard 2 loss will remain a loss There are plenty of videos of Russian tanks getting damaged by mines and rarely they're completely destroyed too. And atgm destroy everything anyway. How exactly Bradley can survive hit that destroys a tank? And when it comes to quality - there's a video of lancet destroying leopard 2 with one hit, but Russians consider shooting soviet tanks with lancet ineffective "Less ground slowly and at higher casualties rate" - you can't know anything about casualties rate. But Russia does take slower approach because they have huge artillery advantage and there's no point for them to rush in. Mostly their strategy after first 2 months of war was to encircle cities where Ukraine is willing to throw thousands in meat grinder for PR stunts ( Mariupol Lysychansk Severodonetsk Bahmut and Avdiivka). While Ukraine can't be slow because it benefits Russia due to sheer amount of fire power Their strategy worked out on Kharkiv because Russia barely had troops there. But in Kherson Ukraine also was throwing away thousands until Russia decided to retreat. I indeed didn't expected Russia to fall back from Kherson, but you can't deny that Ukrainian attacks there worked well, despite Russia having little supplies there. Also according to Washington post and their interview with Ukrainian soldiers from Kherson offensive - Russia was loosing at least 5 times less soldiers there than Ukraine Since last Ukrainian offensive - Russia was the one gaining ground and bombarding Ukrainian soldiers in cauldrons. And now Ukraine can't even make it to first line of Russian defenses, despite having huge losses. That's why I call it slowly loosing Also NATO can't replace Ukrainian losses (other than Bradleys). Majority of NATO countries admitted that they completely run out of equipment and ammo for Ukraine. For example Germany only has 20k artillery shells left, that's less than what Russia uses in a day. Ukranian equipment getting better percentage wise but in quantity they're a lot weaker than at the beginning of war. Compare it to Russia loosing 50 t90 according to oryx, but having like 600 of them before the war and making more 24/7. Now Ukraine probably has less tanks than Russia has t90 alone, they don't outnumber Russia greatly anymore, they don't have advantage in drones, they barely have air force, air defences or rockets for them, they still use a lot less ammo than Russia and loosing artillery daily. What advantage Ukraine has over Russia, considering that some Russian equipment is as good as NATO equipment, but Russia has it in far larger quantities? You can't "slowly win" when you're greatly outclassed

  392.  @ВолодимирШапошников  1) There was no permission of the protest in Russia before COVID. Not sure about Ukraine in COVID times, but COVID restrictions were a thing in many western countries too 2) You can't know it for sure. USA is democratic and had decent law enforcement system, but Hunter Biden isn't in jail despite smoking crack while driving 150 miles an hour while filming himself. So we can't know anything. Obviously Russia is corrupt, but I find it weird to use as an argument because we can't really measure corruption and all estimations are based on randomly things. So I find it weird to use as an argument 3) So American ideology is facsism because they have biggest military spendings on Earth? Do you think Israel is also fascist since they even drafting women? Saying that Russia is facsist because they're militaristic is the same as calling all dog owners evil because Hitler also loved dogs 4) Where are you from? I'm just curious if your country was ever in war in your life time. Did anything changed for you after "black packages" started arriving? In a year Russia roughly lost the same amount of people as they loose in car crushes. And Russians used to spikes in prices since 2014 5) Well, Russia evacuated a 100k from Kherson alone. And other cities were captured too quickly for many people to drive away, so I'm not sure where have you found info about 2/3 of population, but I'd love to read about it. According to BBC sponsored Mediazona, which has actual data from cementeries and social media - Russia lost 26k soldiers in total. Plus we don't know how many out of those 500k people, who left Russia, came back. Because every year around 30 million people leave Russia and come back. So your estimations are highly likely way off 6) Indeed, many Russian stopped liking Prigozhin because of that. I find everything about this mutiny extremely stupid 7) Well, I guess, they're at war now, so it seems logical to teach teenagers about war a bit more 8) Yeah, with weapons and not. Do you think it would be ok for Yanukovich to let police to fire at will at any protestor in 2013? According to UN 80% of civilian casualties since 2014 were on rebel controlled territory. I think it's wrong to kill people who only want freedom. So in my eyes it would be wrong for Russia to take Kiev, just like it would be wrong for Ukraine to capture Crimea 9) Russia does the same. And I don't like this war too. But I also don't like what Ukraine was doing in Donbas and how everyone pretends that Ukraine is innocent and did nothing wrong 10) I agree completely. Do you also think that Ukraine shouldn't have bombed anyone and shouldn't attack now to take back regions to "protect" civilians? Yeah, it's nice to argue with someone who actually has an opinion and can explain it

  408.  @wolfvale7863  they can't have same casualties since one side has huge artillery advantage, while artillery and other bombs causes 80% of casualties in any war Western media reported that 20 our of 30 countries completely run out of things to sent to Ukraine. According to Ukranian officials - Ukraine lost 50% of their heavy equipment in the summer, while all NATO supplies only covered 15% of their losses. And according to nytimes - third of NATO howitzers are damaged and need repair (who knows how many are destroyed). According to CNN - USA is running out of ammo to sent to Ukraine, US sent almost 1 million 155mm rounds to Ukraine in total, despite making only 80k per year, so it's 12 years of production. And according to nytimes again - 20 out of 30 NATO countries completely run out of things to send to Ukraine According to Ukranian deputy of minister of defence in summer - Ukraine lost 50% of their heavy equipment, while all NATO supplies only covered 15% of their losses. According to Washington post and their interview with Ukrainian soldiers from Kherson offensive - Ukraine was loosing at least 5 times more soldiers than Russia during those attacks. According to Ukranian minister of defence Zaluzhni in latest interview - he has 2 well equipped brigades and he needs thousands of pieces of heavy equipment to do anything. Usa makes 80k 155mm shells per year, while Ukraine uses this amount per month and all western media are agreeing that NATO is running out of equipment and ammo to supply Ukraine with. And few weeks ago there was a video of Russia bringing extra 200 t90 to the front, that's equal to total amount of tanks Germany has. Plus Ukraine stated that Russia makes 40-60 cruise missiles (not including islander) per month, while USA makes 250 patriot missiles per year according to Lockheed Martin. West doesn't have a lot of things to sent to Ukraine anymore

  431. Ukraine is also committing reserves and also loose tons of artillery. But Russia terribly outguns them in artillery and aviation. Biden said that USA sending cluster ammo because they run out of 155mm shells to send to Ukraine. Russia also has cluster shells and they're a lot more effective at killing advancing troops than people who sit in trenches Ukraine can indeed take trenches here and there. It's inevitable when you're attacking, but they're loosing huge amount of soldiers while doing it. For comparison according to BBC sponsored Mediazona (which uses actual data from cementeries and social media, unlike random estimations) - Russia currently loosing 50 soldiers a week. Just imagine Ukrainian losses during their humane waves assaults and tell me with the straight face that it's sustainable for them and that's it's a reliable strategy to recapture all land Russia took. For me it's clear that Ukraine can't defeat Russia anywhere where Russia actually has troops to guard frontline (unlike in Kharkiv for example). And considering small Russian losses - Russia also isn't even close to committing all their reserves because they simply don't have to Russia haven't used Kerch bridge to transport military equipment in awhile. They have ferries, ships, new regions and planes to deliver anything they want. And btw trains still can move through that bridge too. Also before Russia built this bridge they were only using boats and planes to supply Crimea, while supplying their army in Syria. Plus Russian logistics can't struggle more than Ukrainian because they have more weapons with longer range than Ukraine will ever have. I'm curious, if Russia blew up bridges across Dnepr, would you also say "it's over for Ukraine, their army should fall back to western side of Dnepr, they're basically encircled and their logistics is dead"?

  437. 1) Russia makes their own tanks and doesn't rely on someone else to repair them, plus they have tons of them. So losing a tank for Ukraine is significant, while losing it for Russia isn't 2) 3 guys in a tanks are a lot safer than 3 guys in open field with AK. And they will deal a lot more damage to enemies. So yeah, Russian armoured losses are high, but it has nothing to do with casualties 2) "Organized retreat like Bahmut" - what? They were fighting for every home even when last remaining supply road was few shelled by Russian atgms. Soldiers were running away on foot . It's not organised retreat 3) "Ukraine is slowly bleeding Russian army". So, if they bled Russian army in Bahmut and during summer offensive - why can Russia attack now, but Ukraine cannot? Maybe it's other way around since Russia has huge advantage in fire power? Btw, according to Mediazona Russia lost 36k people in entire war, which is 60 soldiers per day. Compare it to Zelensky himself admitting that during defense of Severodonetsk Ukraine was losing 200-300 soldiers per day. So if Ukraine was only defending, while Russia was only attacking - they would have still lost less soldiers than Ukraine. Simply because they use more armour and more artillery shells. Quote from Mediazona: "So far, the battle for Avdiivka, which experts often called the “second Bakhmut,” referencing to the place of the heaviest fighting last winter, doesn’t affect our count significantly. We do find some obituaries of soldiers who died there, mostly assault and motorised rifle units, but the death toll is far from the one in Bakhmut." Btw, during attack on Bahmut Russia was losing 80-120 soldiers per day. So why do you think that tens of thousands of tons of bombs that Russia drops on Avdiivka are bleeding Russia, but not Ukraine?

  634.  @bah9681  Ukraine received 7k precise artillery rounds and 2m dumb artillery rounds, so only 0.35% of their strikes are precise. Why do you think that Russia used less high precision ammunition? Especially since they used roughly 7k long range missiles, which are a lot more expensive to make Why do you think that Ukrainian counter battery is superior? Especially considering Russia is also using lancet drones to destroy Ukrainian equipment And how exactly Ukrainian training can be superior, if they use equipment they're unfamiliar with, while all Russian men went through at least one year of training when they were 18 and received extra training later? According to the same Oryx Russia lost like 60 t90, while having 600 of them when war started. So Russia has a lot more modern tanks than Ukraine has. And according to pro western novayagazeta in 2022 Russia made 250 new tanks and upgraded 600 old tanks, according to Putin in 2023 Russia plans to make and upgrade 1500 tanks this year. So yeah, Russia will continue to have huge advantage in tanks if NATO won't send them more tanks According to BBC sponsored Mediazona Russia lost 26k soldiers in this war and they have actual data from cementeries and social media, unlike some random leaked or fake leaked documents, pro Ukrainian estimations etc. How many do you think Ukraine has lost with such huge disadvantage in fire power? And you still haven't explained how can Ukraine possibly capture Crimea and take back their regions while being terribly outgunned I'll watch this guy you mentioned. But all his his titles are either neutral or greatly pro Ukrainian

  656. Strong countries can lose to weaker countries when they don't have a political will to continue. Not the case with Putin. It's also not the case with Russia because Ukraine had a net loss of land every year and because Russia is outproducing entire NATO Most of the people in every army are poor people and everyone wants higher wages everywhere. What's your point? Can I say the same thing about the Ukrainian or American army? All Russian men went through at least 1 year of training when they turned 18. Then received months of extra training before being sent to Ukraine. For comparison, all mercs who fled Ukraine (like Wali) said that Ukrainian soldiers are thrown to the frontline with 2 weeks of training and after firing less than 10 bullets. Everything you said about Russia can be applied to Ukraine, but to a much higher degree Russian soldiers have high morale because they're joining the army willingly, unlike Ukrainian who's getting kidnapped off streets by local militia. Also Russia is the one taking ground and terribly outgunning Ukraine, why would they have low moral to begin with? Soldiers taking their lives instead of being finished by drones is a sign of bravery. Would you say that kamikaze pilots have low moral too? Russia does have complete air dominance over Ukraine because Russia is freely dropping on Ukrainian positions. Russia not willing to lose 10 thousands planes and helicopters (like USA did in Vietnam) by flying over Ukraine - has nothing to do with air superiority Leopard 1 is as old as t64, while t72 is as old as Abrams. Do you think Abrams is also outdated soviet era tank? Old equipment with modern visors is as deadly as modern equipment Russia produces tons of their own electronic components. And of course Russia "has to get tanks out of storages" because that's what storages are for - to have time to increase your production in a conflict. And right now Russia is producing 3-4 new tanks per day Soooo, which one of your reasons for Russia to lose cannot be applied to Ukraine too? Because the situation is much worse for Ukraine, so if Russia is not flying over Ukraine can lose them the war, then Ukraine will lose the war much faster.
