@artistbyrudy it's not about repeating the original, it's about sending bad messages. I haven't seen this garbage, but I watched the Mulan remake. In original the message was that you can achieve anything if you work hard and smart, take care of the people around you and they will take care of you, women and men are different, but they complement each other and can overcome everything together. The message in the new Mulan is that women are strong as hell from birth, they're oppressed by men because they fear their strength, so women should stop hiding that they're better than men in every way to achieve ULTIMATE POWER (in Palpatin voice) See the difference? Remakes don't have to be completely the same as originals, they just shouldn't be evil

@Jr18x- it's boring and unnecessary. Is there a single new thing we learned about Frenchie, Hughie or Starlight characters that matters? We always knew Frenchie is a killer and that his actions lead to deaths of innocents. So why do we need this story with his new boyfriend? We always knew that Hughie's mother left him for no reason, now we know that she was sad, but it doesn't change anything because it never mattered to begin with. That's why previously we only heard like 2 sentences about this topic Apparently Starlight was a bitch when she was a teenager and accidentally hurt someone. So? She was very nice all those 3 seasons, but now she suddenly can't control her emotions and is turning evil for no reason? That's not a character development, it's a character assassination And when it comes to Kimiko - we always knew she's from some terrorist organisation and she already lost her brother, so there's not much point in doing the same "I'll save you from your past" thing again. And the worst part - director showed us the same scene twice: Kimiko goes to some location, defeats the bad guys and the scar girl runs away. Both of those fights didn't pushed the plot further because we already knew that this organisation sends terrorists Kimiko knows to USA So yeah, boring and unnecessary

The fact that the main message of the movie is way different from original and pretty much evil. The message in the remake is evil because it doesn't encourage any improvement since Mulan was perfect from the start and since her arc was "stop pretending that you aren't perfect"

@lamelouis It should be faithful to source material. In books there are other countries with other skin tone, they could invent new characters from those places instead of butchering existing ones. In shown period of time (medieval) and architecture (Europe) there can't be any diversity due to lack of opportunities to travel thousands of kilometers. Seeing multicultural villages is ridiculous and taking me our of immersion. It also ruins lore where everyone is racist due to your height and form of the ears, so it also raising the question why aren't they killing each other. Also it ruins relationship between characters - Fringilia in books looked like Yen, that's why Gerald had sex with her Btw, black panther's Wakanda didn't had a lot of whites and asians. Shang chi didn't had black and white people. Wow, Americans can stop swapping races when they want to

In the remake in the first training scene she did a kick flip and hit the flying spear to hit her opponent and then the thought "damn, I should hide my powers". In the end she said "I don't want to hide anymore" and did the exact same moves. Compare it to training and the outcome in original

@sealking3838 Yeah, some diversity can only be in huge port cities on the south, because merchants and very rich people can travel here from different continent. But it's almost impossible for them to stay there because they don't know the language (it's extremely hard to learn when all books are expensive as hell, you don't have time for that anyway and 99.999% chance that you don't know how to read anyway) and racism of locals. So seeing so many black people in random village is ridiculous

You're not alone. I believe that people enjoyed this series because there's nothing to watch and it looked great. But if you think about it - characters got no goal (except for Vi who wants her sister back), they change they opinion on stuff every 30 seconds (especially Jaycee) and characters haven't changed since ep3 (when they grew up) So basically it's a story with characters who got no motivation, no end goal and they aren't changing through story Btw, it had 9.4 rating. It's better than LoTR or Schindler's list somehow. World has gone mad

Arcane is incredibly dumb, got no world building, characters are changing their minds every episode, 80% of dialogue are meaningless and the only 2 good things about this series are Silco and animation Can't believe people call it masterpiece, can't believe it has higher rating than LoTR. Just because there was no good series pr film in past few years - it doesn't mean that Arcane is good, it's just better than utter garbage that comes recently

@sublix4861 entire scene of Caitlyn in the woods competing for being a best shooter is pointless since she's a police man, surely she knows hot to shoot pretty well When it comes to world building my biggest issue is lack of explanation why there's tension between cities. Are there oppressive laws that stop people from poor city studying, working and living in rich city? Can't they build a house outside of poisoned area? Why no-one did it before? Why girls parents were attacking rich city in the first scene of the series, what goal was so important for them that they were ready to die and left their children alone? For me answers are important, since that's the core of that series and all events are happening because of the tension between cities. I had to questions about world building in hunter x hunter, avatar, GoT (first 4 seasons at least) and many others. When it comes to main reason for events that are happening or about to happen - usually series or movies give proper explanations. For example in GoT shit started when king who took kingdom by force died, so obviously member of previous ruling family started acting, other people wanted to sit on the throne too because it wasn't clear who should rule right now (rule's son, oldest member of ruler's family or his young brother who can be a better king). Very simple and you understand all points of few. If you give better definition of "good world building" i would be happy to give you other examples

If i did something bad i wouldn't feel safe around the police too Well, people of poor city can sit in Vander's bar 24/7, they have money to buy drinks 4 times more expensive than in norma store, Vander owns a successful bar, surely he got more money than random janitor in rich city. Surely he can afford living there or at least pay for girl's education Why do you think there are no social elevators? Victor did it. Yeah, he is a genius, but he was also poor and couldn't afford school (if you need to pay for it at all in the first place). Maybe i forgot something, but i don't remember anyone paying for his education

@sublix4861 I've seen the whole show, it sucks. Since ep3 characters got no development, no motivation (except for Vi and Silco), no end goal (except for Vi), their decisions are dumb (especially Jaycee who decided to give entire city to evil drug dealer) and world building is garbage (invention of teleportation haven't changed anything, shiny crystals that were dropped in the water in ep1 can't be reached for some reason, i still don't know why poor city and rich city hate each other)

@kfcmanager759 can you tell me an end goal for any character (except vi and Silco), something after which you can roll the credits? For example in game of thrones for John Snow it's killing white walkers, for Daenerys it's getting to iron throne, for other Starks it's to avenge their father etc And pls tell me how characters changed since ep3 when kids grew up (except Silco) Because those heroes have no clue wtf are they doing, they don't make their own decisions, they don't know what they want and they haven't changed at all

@mkocel why Jayce decided to give entire city to evil drug dealer who uses kids in his drug labs? It will increase drug trafficking, kids abuse and amount of criminals in general, more people will suffer. Not even talking about how bad it is to have dictatorship full of thugs who will obey every Silco order for extra dose of drugs. Imagine being attacked by few hundred of drugged super soldiers because Hitler across the river decided to Is Jaycee stupid? Is everyone in his council is evil or stupid?

So there are social elevators And if we haven't seen woods scene Caitlyn wouldn't shoot a criminal who tries to kill her friend? She's a cop, why wouldn't she Successful bar makes a lot of money and costs a lot. Surely Vander can rent cheap apartment for his daughters. If he can't - it's a world building problem, because in our world that's more than enough to do so Well, in Russia top 10% of people can afford to sit in the bar without thinking about the price many times a week. Buying beer for price 4 times more expensive than in random store isn't for poor people. If Victor without money at all (he was playing in dirt, maybe it's a common think in Zaun but he definitely wasn't from rich family) can apply for a school, study and live there - i see no reason for bar owner to not sent daughters to study there and have a nice air. I'm not saying he's rich, but he is definitely one of the wealthiest people around

Council and smart part of it wants city full of thugs who will do anything for another dose of local crack, lead by evil dictator, right next to their city? They want drug traffic to increase exponentially, since Silco doesn't even need to hide? They don't expect to get attacked by their new neighbour with buffed drugged soldiers because their leader wants more power? Or everyone in this council (except the old guy who was portrayed as stupid) are evil?

@Feinei So smart scientists is dumb enough to let Hitler rule and abuse kids, he never read a history book, ok. But what about other people in the council? For example his gf, she was portrayed as smart politician and everyone except old guy, weren't looking like idiots? Are they all evil and don't care about both cities?

"Living a mark and help people" is too abstract. So Ekko's goal is to kill Silco and stop drug trafficking? But since Silco is dead and all main criminals were killed by Silco - Ekko story is over and his ark is complete? Same goes for Caitlyn. Silco is dead, no more drugs. I guess she needs to capture or kill Jinx since she's a terrorist, but she had a lot of opportunities to kill her already, but never used them. This goal is pretty weak too. So we can end Caitlyn story when Jinx die? Caitlyn doesn't have more personal investment in catching Jinx than any other unnamed cop (yeah, she got kidnaped, but since she didn't lost anything - it's not a bid deal) What is Jinx goal again? She already found her sister and then blew up something later. You can't just stop being crazy to "find identity". How will she do that? About Mel you told me her story, but it's not her end goal. She's a flat "smart politician with good heart" character. Btw, she and Jaycee tried to let Evil drug dealer rule entire city, abuse kids, increase drug trafficking and let literal Hitler to have army of super soldiers who will obey his orders for another dose. And this decision was portrayed as something smart. Jaycee, Mel and other members of the council are all evil or dumb? Why does this gap between 2 cities exist? Every person we saw from poor city is a criminal, tho they can freely study and work in rich city (just like Victor).

@jonbaxter2254 he stared the "war" (which is basically a police raid on drug labs, not a war) in the same episode, killed a kid who was part of the gang with his magic hummer (which he used for some reason, despite the fact that he wanted to never use magic for violence), decided to stop fighting against drugs because of his own mistake and let evil drug dealer rule thugs across the river. And his council agreed to have literally Hitler across the river with no control from rich city. Why? He WANTS drug dealer to keep using kids in his gangs? He doesn't want peace, he doesn't want anything, he's changing his mind every 30sec.

@itsjustvin7630 He is naive but not dumb. His council also filled with smart people (except one old man who was portrayed as dumb). And they're creating Hitler across the river, who can flood their city with drugs and criminals, can start an actual war (not just raids on drug labs) against them with drugged super soldiers who will do anything for extra dose, who will abuse and use children, who will make everyone suffer even more. Hmmmm We can assume that Jaycee is insane now after killing a kid, so in the next season he will be in asylum for crazy people, but what about council? Are they secretly supporting drug trafficking? Even that black chick who sleeps with Jaycee? Are they all evil too? Or in Arcane world history never had evil people ruling countries and no consequences and that's why they aren't afraid of things i mentioned above?

One of Silco's people made a terrorist attack and kidnaped his ex, Silco flooding cities with drugs, creating super soldiers, using children to create drugs and brainwashing them so much that they are ready to die for Silco. "Take away Silco - another will rise" - eventually, but i don't see second Hitler in Germany just yet. Have you ever heard about fighting crimes? If someone will stub you - police will hunt this person without saying "we catch him, another will come and stub you, it's pointless"

Jinx existed when Silco was ruling, she made terrorist attacks and kidnapped people while he was ruling, she also was raised by him and he couldn't control her when he was alive. It's not like she's the next Silco, she's just the terrorist

What did you like about story and characters? Heroes got no goal (expect for Vi who wants her sister back), they change their mind every episode or just following instructions (like Jayce). Characters themselves didn't change since ep3 (when kids grew up). If you watch this series in the wrong order - nothing will change except Jaycee's position in the council (but his black chick forced them to vote for stuff she wants anyway, so it doesn't matter also) The only character that had some personal grow is Silco, cos he started loving Jinx like his daughter and we know what he wants, but he died so whatever I don't understand what people love about this show except great art style and few interesting fights

She was blowing up buildings and killing people randomly. I legit don't understand Characters make decisions to achieve their goal and base them around it. For example in LoTR - it's destroying the ring, for Daenerys it's sitting on iron throne (for 99% of the show), for Will Turner in pirates of Caribbean it's marriage with his love. Characters can get sidetracked, but their stories can end after they achieve their goals. So killing Silco has completed Jinx's and Caitlyn s stories? No. What exactly Victor and Jaycee need to create for them to say "yes, we did it, now we can die in peace, roll the credits"? No idea. Also, you said that Jayce realized that world isn't black and white. Why did he and council voted to let evil drug dealer Hitler rule the poor city? More people will get abused and more kids will join gangs. He wants people to suffer more? Or Jayce, one of the smartest people alive, is dumb all of the sudden?

@lefteron6804 If there's no end goal - this show can run for extra 500 seasons and become a sitcom. She went rogue because guy in charge of her is corrupted. Basically she's no different from any honest cop or anyone who doesn't like terrorism. But ok, it's at least something So Jayce and Victor can also invent new stuff for another 500 seasons. But why they want to let Hitler rule poor city? It has nothing to do with inventing, they aren't evil and aren't stupid. What's the point? It is indeed hard for me to enjoy series without knowing end goal of characters, but it's not the reason why i disagree with arcane being best series of all time (it had 9.4 on IMDb) and why i think that plot and characters are average at best (except Silco, such a shame he died and had so little screen time)

Vi does have goal, as i said Well, Vi tried to help Powder buy she just killed Silco and attacked rich city for some reason, she wasn't trying to befriend her sister again or get closer to someone else. Therefore she doesn't have a goal, because she doesn't move towards Vi in any way Silco is a good character with a goal, but he died already so i haven't said anything about him Caitlyn is just doing her job as a cop. Or she will complete her ark when she kill/arrest Jinx? When will Mel's ark will be completed? Its as abstract as Caitlin, Jaycee, Victor, Vander (who's dead, so doesn't matter), Ekko (Silco is dead but i doubt that he will leave the story because he "completed" his journey, i honestly forgot if he died or not) By goal i meant something that can end character's ark or end the show. For Frodo and brotherhood of the ring - it's destroying Sauron, for main hero of Kill Bill it's kill Bill, for Daenerys it's getting to Iron throne (I'm ignoring bad writing of last seasons). And only Vi in this series got that end goal (among people who still alive)

He wanted to make everyone's lifes better, that's why he wanted to stop drug traffic and arrest Jinx for terrorism. So he decided to start a "war" (which is basically raid on drug labs), but he killed a kid and decided to give entire poor city to Silco. And his council agreed on that. So he wants to let evil drug dealer rule entire city of thugs, who will obey every order of evil bastard (who raised a terrorist Jinx btw) for extra dose of drugs, who abused kids and made them work in his drug labs. It will significantly increase drug trafficking, amount of thugs in poor city and criminality, so more kids will suffer. Why would he do that? We can assume that everyone in the council is either secretly evil or an idiot, but why would he do that? He is bad at politics, but he isn't an idiot and i doubt he us evil. So why would he do that? And what's he gonna do in the next season? What if Jinx gonna hide in poor city? He's gonna go on a "war" again or will negotiate with new ruler of poor city? Because "i don't want innocent to die" doesn't match "i want to let Hitler rule because i made a mistake"

Cos i legit struggle with naming a good movie or series where characters had no end goal (except comedies) So to complete Caitlyn ark jinx has to get arrested/die or Caitlyn has to die herself? To finish Victor and Jaycee ark - Victor has to find a cure? And to finish Mel ark - there should be no war? Jaycee had no clue about Silco intentions. The only thing he knew about Silco - he is a drug dealer who uses kids and he raised terrorist. Saying that he would stop selling drugs after gaining power - it's an assumption that no-one mentioned in the series If Jaycee gave town to Silco - nothing would have stopped Silco from producing drugs People in poor city hate people in rich city for untold reasons. Not a single shown person in poor city has a job that unrelated to criminal activities. And seems like no-one stops poor people from going to schools and working in rich city, even becoming respected members of it (like Victor). Therefore they have no real reasons to have tension between cities (except for criminal/cop relationship). So Jayce and council decided to have entire city of thugs who hate them for some reason just because they decided NOT to build schools, get rid of criminality, drug labs and enforcing law, but give entire city to drug dealer Hitler instead because he might have good intentions?

In arcane world building is nonexistent: why couldn't the swim for magic thingies in ep1? Why is undercity so poor? Are they not allowed to work and study? Is someone holding them back? How invention of teleportation has changed the world? Not a single rival country wants to steal those amazing technologies? Character's motivation also doesn't exist. Jinx attacked rich city, Jaycee goes to war using his magic stuff (tho he wanted to not use them as weapons), kills some kid who was part of the drug gang and decides to let drug dealer Hitler rule entire city with no police? He and their council wants to have an evil guy ruling thugs across the river? Why? They indeed have flaws and relationships. It's physically hard to write a character with no flaws and relationship with different characters

That series is a lot worse than you think. You got fooled by cool looks but the story itself is horrible, characters are flat (Except Silco) and got no motivation or end goal.
