@saileshrachapudi8486 So are you saying Apple's chips are "off the shelf ARM"???? That doesn't make sense. So Intel and AMD are the same since they use the same architecture??? you sound jealous

@fyfoh oh well you are too smart for the world - you shouldn't even comment on YouTube. Well if it requires "minimum engineering" then "lots of companies" would have done better than Hi Silicon... So why didn't they? If they did minimal engineering there would be no reason for the US to be scared and ban them... And if Apple put so much money - they why bother to use ARM at all... They could come up with their own architecture right??? Please tell us owe genius one.

@_nom_ So why does Apple use ARM at all...??? If it is so easy then why did Huawei chips perform so well?

Huwaei and HiSilicon made an error in that they steamed ahead of the PRC's semiconductor manufacturing capability. I guess because relations had improved with the ROC in Taiwan - they figured that would shield them from US attempts to stop them. Well now they have wised up and are working with local tools companies to build supply lines and even EDA.

Yup aside from Comac and Airbus - don't be surprised if you don't see Russian MC-21's in China - at the expense of Boeing.

@2drealms196 Not a smart strategy by the US. Canon and Nikon are working on bypassing the ASML EUV. In fact very little of the machine has US tech. And important piece yes - the light source - but that's the only thing right now that doesn't have a replacement. How long do people think it will take to find another light source?

@birsiir8251 Nope. Google was banned in China only after it didn't comply with the laws. Google was there but still couldn't defeat Baidu. Same with Facebook and Twitter. They were allowed in China but then refused to obey the laws. But they were never as popular as Weibo or WeChat.

@genuinennessbefitting4734 China is effectively the same IQ as Japan - but 10 times the population... Think about it.

@Kiyoone Yup. Cadence and Synopsis both invested in Chinese EDA start ups. They have sense.

@ps3301 cut those numbers by 1/3.... And there is no need to replace ARM...

@IpSyCo No... The advanced chips are made on Taiwan and in South Korea. And Mainland China makes more chips than the US overall now.

@grimgoreironhide9985 ARM has made it clear their new cores are fully accessible to China and not subject to restriction. US can't bully ARM because they set up a unit in China for legal purposes. RISC V when to the Swiss for the same reason.

@IpSyCo vassals - not allies

@birsiir8251 what on earth are you talking about??? Samsung and SK Hynix have huge operations in China. And what laws did Google not want to follow? to keep Chinese data in China. Simple. Seems you are exactly the type of person the maker of this video talked about in the beginning. No civility. That tends to be a theme with the anti China crowd

@IpSyCo nanometer size does not deem quality or not... shows how much you know. and most of the money in semiconductors is 28nm and above. few things need small nodes. And not much 7nm nor 14nm is done in the US. The US buys most of it from TSMC and Samsung
