  1. relying on western companies is never a good idea. nor relying on the western market... just ask Japan. NEC - Toshiba - Hitachi all got handicapped by US policies.

  3. Designing chips and manufacturing are very different. For instance AMD has almost the same engineering jobs on offer in China as in India. In the same way in the US you see both Indian and Chinese employees at the semiconductor companies. So both do plenty of design. Cadence and other companies have lots of jobs in China too... But actual manufacturing? it takes lots of funding and time. China is only doing it now because the US has forced it to.... But China has the overall manufacturing infrastructure and the hundreds of billions it takes...

  4. I'm sure I will get hate mail - but it should be clear that India is better at services than manufacturing in almost all sectors.
