"So it's got 2 retarded camshafts" - Giggity!!! xD
4
Would not have*
4
So many "giggity" opportunities missed! xD
4
@thebobbyc82 - My 2001 car has a low coolant warning on the onboard computer display, I'd assume a 10 year younger, much more technologically advanced vehicle would have one of some sorts too.
4
Yeah, I didn't expect such a hack job from Ray.
4
I just did what Ray said (googled cabin air filter for a Ford Focus) and I found one that fits all models from 1998 to 2007, so I'm calling BS on that story.
4
I was looking for this comment. It seems like a clear oversight from Ray.
4
26:53 - You made it so fast that the alternator was sending negative voltage. xD Note for the people with thicker heads: I know the multimeter's wires were switched over and it doesn't harm the device. ; )
4
I'm assuming the 'L' and the 'R' on the cam phasers refer to 'left' and 'right' but from the driver's POV. If not, they were in the wrong position. 46.38 - I have two more for your next video: PT - "até à próxima" (see you next time) or "adeus" (goodbye). IT - "fino a la prossima volta" (see you next time) or "addio/arrivederci" (goodbye). 🙂
4
@73sdawson - Worn tires? I didn't see any worn tires. I'll reserve my opinion on the steering rack to when I see if the replacement unit is new or "new" but in any case, if the owner is someone who doesn't like their vehicles to be leaking fluids everywhere, then I'm with them. The whole engine service was probably much more expensive than this one but they went ahead anyway.
4
Ray explaining to americans how a clutch works. Priceless! 😂
4
Hey Ray, have you ever noticed that the abbreviations of the names you give to the battery (Electron Containment Module or Electron Containment Unit) are ECM or ECU? 😉
4
I was wondering when the flood damaged vehicles would start pouring in the shop... Well, it didn't take long. 🙃
3
If you have to grind the ends of a snap ring and use the hammer for it to fit even after that, it's probably not the right snap ring for the application.
3
@HardlyAbelson - If you read the rest of the comments you'll see that it's not only KIA.
3
*sensors 😉
3
These videos must've been shot while the Jaguar was in the shop waiting for the good used sunroof.
3
@hugh007 - I'm quite aware of that situation, that's why I pointed out "in the civilised world".
3
@tinydog34 - I was calling out what the OP's friend said about his Focus not having a CAF. "Didn't come with" and "doesn't have" are two different things. But that must've been a US market-only thing because on this side of the "pond" they all came with one. However, being an european-designed vehicle, I very much doubt that they would create a specific dash for the US market without the place for a CAF.
3
8:55 - Complicated? Nah, that's pretty standard in many european cars. Just because you're not used to see it doesn't mean it's a Mercedes-only thing. My 2001 Opel Astra, a mid level estate, also has insulated tweeters. You complain, complain and complain but in the end it went smoothly and without any of the drama you predicted in the beginning.
3
1:27 - Fancy new modern vehicles? My 2001 Opel Astra also has the cabin filter inside the dash, behind the glove box.
3
Why would the mice chew the wires when apparently they have an unlimited supply of peanuts? :D
3
I never leave any personal things inside my car even when I leave it at my long time mechanics' shop.
3
The audio is much louder than it was before, I had to turn the volume down. You might need to take this into consideration when editing.
3
*A lot, not alot. 😉
3
18:43 - So glad you corrected the lack of compliance of that bolt, I already had a REEEEEEEEEEEEE comment prepared to throw at you. 😄
3
3:56 - The odds of that happening are probably so low that they can't even be calculated. Why would anyone in their right mind open the bonnet while driving, Ray? 😄
3
Not only was that a waste of a still good tyre but now the customer has a car with a new tyre on one side a half worn tyre on the other. Insurance companies shouldn't be allowed to make decisions about things they clearly know nothing about. 😠
3
I agree with you and so does my tyre technician, I've been doing that for over 20 years based on his advice. You'd think that someone in the tyre business would be more interested in selling new tyres but he'd rather sell only two at a time (while saving the customer some money in the long run) and know that the customer is safe. As for the vehicle in the video, I'm pretty sure there has been some single tyre changes or tyre rotations along the way because it's virtually impossible for the tyres to wear that unevenly across all 4 corners.
3
@militarycoo - More like "voilà". 😉
3
@militarycoo - Yeah, I know your keyboards don't have accents.
3
"NOBODY does this anymore!"- That's maybe true in the US but here in my city there are a couple of shops that still do that. : ) I gotta say, Ray, you should cut the clips of the passes and make one of those Oddly Satisfying videos. Guaranteed it'll have millions of views. ; )
3
@jimjones1678 - If you need to ask them to do that, then you should consider looking for a new tire shop. At the tire shop where I usually go, those things are part of the normal tire-changing service.
3
@TWEAKLET - Taking it out of the car and carrying it are two different things.
2
Of course it's not the same VW, the other one was a Passat! 😉
2
Sarcasm level =1000
2
You should have that lack of smell looked into, it's kind of a liability in your line of business. Something's not right if you haven't recovered it so long after you got Covid.
2
Lol, 97ºF is only 36ºC (not that hot) and if the AC is capable of making 22ºC, I wouldn't say it's struggling, it's an adequate temperature. I wonder what he would say if he had to endure commuting home 5 days straight with temperatures averaging 41ºC (105ºF) here where I live in Central Portugal. We're in the middle of a heat wave and we still have 4 more days to go with temperatures averaging 43.5ºC (110ºF)!
2
Loads of flavour, lots of innuendos... Man, it looked like I was watching a CSW video! All was missing was some "say no more", calling Jamoque to the dealer and some giggities. :D
2
Seems like your tools and flashlights sometimes don't understand the gravity of the situation. LOL! :D
2
Easy access, only 4 itens to replace... You gotta love 4 cylinder engines! 😉 Anyway, good call on replacing all the coils. Two out of four with holes in the insulation, you betcha the other two were going to suffer from the same problem in the short run. 🙂
2
Shaft, rear end, tip, hole, lube, get behind it, let it ride, hitting the face with the shaft... If I wasn't watching the video I could swear this was some X-rated movie. Giggity! 🤣
2
Who else notice that suspicious blue wire at 7:45 right away?
2
@reneneron2971 - You misunderstood me, I was agreeing, not disagreeing, with you. 👍
2
What happened to Peter, Ray? I haven't seen you two interact in the videos lately.
2
I was about to post the same comment but since you already did, I'll just continue commenting here: 5,5-6,3 km/l equals to 18,18-15,83 l/100km, so no, it's a gas guzzler.
2
@redzed40 - That's the idea I get from watching Ray's videos.
2
Who else is curious about the Saab in the back of the tow truck? 😉
2
If you heat the wires first they will dissipate the heat almost instantly and the solder won't melt. Solder should always be melted, first on the iron, then on the wires, then (if necessary) a bit when the iron is in contact with the wires during soldering. The contact between the iron and the wires must always be kept to a minimum.
2
Not caring about the environment is a recurring theme in these videos, unfortunately.
