  2.  @cabottaxi  - I don't know how it works in the US but here in Portugal the shops send the vehicle's license plate to the parts store and if there were changes throughout the lifespan of said model, with that info they know exactly what part fits that particular vehicle. The chances of messing up the parts are very slim to virtually non-existant.
