Hmmm... that cork gasket doesn't look like it was changed in a long time, that's probably why it was leaking. Maybe the Goomba who made the alleged recent transmission rebuild service didn't change it. If they make those gaskets out of cork it's because cork is a good enough sealant for a transmission oil pan.
