@scottbutler2343 - My point is that widespread habit of turning 'a lot' into 'alot', either due to the laziness of putting the space between 'a' and 'lot' or the ignorance of writing 'a lot' correctly, is not a valid reason to accept 'alot' as a substitute for 'a lot'. And btw, English isn't even my native tongue!
