  1. I'm one of those europeans who has to have a personal vehicle because my work involves travelling to locations where I wouldn't be able to go by PT. Plus, I have to carry all the equipment that I need for my work. However, if I need to go to a place that would take me less than 10 min by car and it doesn't involve bringing back large or heavy items, I'll walk. I do even more: my mechanics' shop is in the outskirts of my city and less than 10 min away by car but it's a 35 min walk away, nevertheless I always walk back when I leave my car there and I always walk there to get it back when it's ready. I take a "shortcut" through pleasant countryside roads with virtually no traffic and it doesn't even feel far. The only "problem" (which is only a problem when it's hot out) is that half the distance from here to there is uphill but I don't mind, it's a good workout. 🙂 The only times I use PT (train) is when I need to go to Lisbon or Porto or Coimbra or Aveiro because it's cheaper and less stressful than driving to those places.
