@ObliqueReference It sounds better than the science of the gaps of "we will discover the causes one day".

@rondobrondo This is not a fair thing to say, many people around times said for example that quantum mechanics was not even in the game for explaining the brain activity because of decoherence, the allegedly suppositional "fact" that the brain was "classical", etc. It is something that many people were exploring as well, like Martin Heisenberg or Robert Kane, but a very different perspective on itself nonetheless.

@ObliqueReference That's not science, that's the "religion of science" (aka scientism). Science knows there are gaps impossible to transpose in terms of human knowledge, because it also holds some comprehension about our limitations in this regard.

@LordXsi When you start saying consciousness don't exist it is time to take a break and rethink your whole life, because you are essentially denying something you lived your whole life with and that is obviously existing as something "inexistent" because your materialism cannot explain it. This is a scientism problem and it is evidently absurd.

@Mattje8 You can also achieve some of the same conclusions with authors like John Searle, or Robert Kane for example, but Penrose did a very important job on bringing this to a whole new level.
