Let's be real, you would use Rust if it was not for lifetimes. Most of the time I see people complaining is for that same reason, even with all the other criticism it boils down to that. I kinda also feels that way about them, and this can be a wrong perception of mine, but Rust without lifetimes would just be a more pleasant language.
