This is getting bizarre, it is not like programming was <ever> different from that, we have metaprogramming since almost the start of programming being a thing, and we have reusability concerns since ALWAYS, literally functional programming is something that heavily induces composability and reusability and generics and it exists for more than 80 years now. Just because you think something is overused it does not mean you can or should call for it as some sort of "big problem in programming", it is the same problematic thing as projecting your "fun past" into the present and saying things degraded (a thing you by yourself criticized). Well, anyway, I'm just kinda pointing this out.
