Yeah, but for some reason when Jonathan Blow says Rust has "10% more friction in development" everybody seems to not question why he has this opinion even when he does not have the same experience level in all these languages. And also, why you only assume 2 things (at 5:43) instead of also assuming they scaled their perceptions before saying which teams are more or less productive? For example, why don't you assume they are comparing teams working on relatively new C++ codebases (or with similar ages than the Go or Rust ones). There are a bunch of possibly false assumptions everywhere. I'd say not this is crap, but rather we just have no reason to neither agree with it or to deny it until the data is showed, because talk is really cheap.

@isodoubIet It can be approximated. If you have teams with projects of marginally similar complexity, marginally similar levels of experience (not only in paper but in proficiency) and marginally similar levels of understanding on many languages (to compare), you can have a measure that will probably tell you something more than nothing. I also used dozens of languages until now as well, and I can tell there are some that are, at least for me, objectively more productive than others. So I don't think it is impossible.
