I can tell you for certain that Hong Kong immigrants are weary of our reputation being dragged through the mud by anybody else from Hong Kong, Macau or Mainland China we deem to act uncouth in public, us getting lumped in with them. This is compounded by concerns that some continue to harbour loyalty to the CCP regime despite having moved away, and would act or speak out in ways that bring the broader Hong Kong community into disrepute (not so much the Chinese community, as we see ourselves as separate owing to developing quite differently under colonial rule).
