  5. I can't deny that this is a factor, which only goes to show what a stupid idea it is to be so lax on firearm possession and ownership. However, we have seen police abuse their authority around the world frequently even where guns are removed from the equation. It goes back to the mentality of these officers and whether there are sufficient checks and balances in place.
