Comments by "Bernie the Kiwi Dragon" (@berniethekiwidragon4382) on "Expert Embarrasses Ben Shapiro During College Tour [FULL CLIP]" video.
Why is he even giving a talk on a subject when he has no expertise in any of this?
4
It's been his grift for as long as he's been lying in political commentary.
3
No. You broke it. Ben "there are only two sexes" Shapiro is not intellectually superior. He is intellectually dishonest.
2
I don't usually read long comments, but yours is thoughtful, concise, articulate, and well structured, so I'm glad I took the time to.
2
How? He is right, Ben is wrong. Shapiro says there are only two sexes, when there are more, as this student said. Once again, the entirety of Shapiro's premise is so factually incorrect, it undermines everything he says which depends on this foundation. This is the norm for Shapiro. Everything he says is like a building built hastily on a foundation of quicksand.
2
This is his argument: Everything Shapiro said hinges on the premise that there can only be two sexes, but that premise is wrong, and so everything he said over that hour is plainly a waste of everybody's time.
2
Incorrect. There is more than just male and female. Just because a vast majority of people fall into either one, doesn't mean they all do.

@dippegalant One of my medical lecturers reject the notion that we all start off female by "default". The absence of male sex hormone influence, whether it is simply insufficient, or as a result of insensitivity, does not automatically mean a fetus develops as female, but rather, it is the presence of female sex hormones (be it intrinsic or maternal), in the absence of male sex hormone effect that leads to the development of female characteristics.
1
@dippegalant Greetings and salutations. 🙂 Merely sharing what I know. I would equally welcome any knowledge you can impart in an area where I am lacking.
1
I see your feelings got hurt, and you aren't interested in calling out the misinformation Shapiro spews.
1
You speak of the Shapiro bubble. It is truly disheartening to see the antiintellectualism being propelled as acceptable, even desirable.
1
The organization, or the movement?
1
@jallen1227 More credible that a law major talking about the subject, if that's the way you want to argue.
1
@jallen1227 His wife's MD is his wife's, not his; his law degree isn't even a science. Do you suddenly gain your spouse's professional knowledge through marriage? It's pointless to focus on who has what degree, since neither's is relevant to the conversation, that Ben would even try to fob Merritt off for commenting on something outside of his study area tells me he actually doesn't have any good comeback or counterargument, since he himself did not study biology, and continues to spread misinformation on the matter.
1
@alvarezricardo5081 Not at first, but notice when he tried to discredit Merritt instead offering a good retort, only to leave himself open to being called out as a gargantuan hypocrite.
1
You declaring victory for him does not make it so. He had no answer to how other international societies have long recognised third genders.
1
Sorry, but Ben is 100% wrong about sex and gender. No self-respecting biologist today would ever limit themselves into thinking either sex or gender is strictly binary. Sorry, but as Shapiro likes to say, facts don't care about your feelings.
1
He was specifically referring to the western colonials, ie the early American settlers, and anybody who inherits those views today; not the modern-day Europeans; and while rejection of the LGBTQ community is very present in the regions of the world you mentioned, this rejection is not total or universal.
1
@ttaylor758 😂🤣😂🤣... No. He was completely, 100% wrong. Set him up with an actual expert, and the Dunning-Kruger effect cannot be more obvious.
1
@ttaylor758 I wasn't referring to Merritt. Also, being extremely bright doesn't mean being honest, nor knowledgeable about subjects outside of his area of study. I wouldn't trust him to carry on the works of Stephen Hawking, because he never studied physics, and he'd be lying to get clout.
1
@ttaylor758 Ben Shapiro's is not an informed opinion. It is a biased opinion that overlooks actual information.
1
@ttaylor758 Even if he majored in sociology or biology, I wouldn't trust Shapiro. He is a liar.
1
@ttaylor758 I do. It's based reality. Your beliefs aren't.
1
Ben Shapiro does sound very stupid, especially to those of us better informed than he is on the subject.
1
Seems like law and biology are also the same now.
1
@antmaster360 Of the two, Merritt is the closer.
1
@antmaster360 Ben's law degree does nor make him an expert, either. Regardless of credentials, Shapiro is factually incorrect.
1
@antmaster360 That there are more than two sexes, and gender is not the same as sex.
1
@vereor66 Ever heard of the "expert patient"?
1
@vereor66 And why would they have such a high rate of suicide? Are they given what they need to manage? I suspect the answer is "no", the same way any patient can fully understand their condition, but will likely suffer complications all the same if they have insufficient access to treatment or the means to modify lifestyles where appropriate.
1
@alvarezricardo5081 Actually, I do have a few ideas. First, you need a support network. Ideally it should start with your family and your closest friends. Next, you need access to healthcare, starting with assessments, and a care plan with treatment goals. This could include anything from therapy for anxiety and depression, to reassignment surgery.
1
@artymaj6 Funny you don't seem to respect the latest acquired knowledge and professional opinions of the actual experts whose life work is to study these phenomena.
