  1. We did tariff China. It cost us a quarter million jobs and tens or hundreds of billions of dollars, raised the farm bankruptcy rate by like 20%, and we did not substantially bring back manufacturing.

  2. Spud..... we've already tried this "global tariffs" thing before under previous presidents, most notably in 1930 during the Great Depression. It did NOT rebuild the economy. It caused price hikes and mass job loss due to retaliation against our exports. Economists are not cheering Trump's innovation. Even conservative economists are screaming "Jesus Christ you idiot stop".
