Just as a reminder, the estimate of how much mail the post office loses is between .5 to 3%. In case you can't do math, that's tens of thousands ballots for every million mailed. Dropping it off at a secured place (my dropbox this election was inside the local police office) means that it won't be lost in the mail. It also means it won't be lost to strikes, mailmen stealing the mail to prevent X party's ballot from being counted, or cheating Republican presidents who tried to cut the post office's funding and ability to process the ballots on time to artificially more legal ballots thrown out for being lost or "late".
