  1. That wouldn't be terrible if it actually worked. The reality is: your domestic producers will simply raise their prices artificially to match, because capitalism demands they sell for as high as they can while still getting sales. That's we've seen with foreign prices and tariffs before. Also, we tried tariffs to get out of the Great Depression. It ruined us when the rest of the world turned around and increased their tariffs on us.
