The moon is tidal locked due to gravity slowing its spin until the same side faces the planet at all times. Most other major moons in the solar system are tidal locked to their planets as well. Both of Mars' are, most of the large gas giant moons are. Pluto and Charon are both tidal locked to each other.

.... they sent their 2nd moon mission within a year and had six landings in under five years.
2
No, because the Russian navy presumably has somebody that's actually been on a boat, not a political appointee stooge.
2
@lov3nonejg ..... because Flat Earthers said "It's not a rock because the Bible says it's a light!" and you just believed them without a scrap of evidence. You realize that the "scientist" in that old interview is a fake right? There's a reason nobody can find him: because he's not actually a scientist. He's just a random dude.
2
Why would we leave a flag with 48 states when Hawaii was granted statehood 10 years before?
2
.... so why did NASA let them make it? They literally went crawling to the very people they were accusing because they ran out of budget and needed to borrow their training props.
2
It folds up and was stored in an equipment bay on the lower half of the ship. If you bothered to look instead of immediately jumping to "It was fake!", you'd know that there's videos of it being removed. Funny, isn't it, that your "truth" movement never shows people that....
2
And Bart got caught red-handed faking evidence and had to shut off the comments on his channel when he got confronted about it.
2
Um.... the "deathbed interview" is a fake. We know who the actor is, and it has references to events that happened after Kubrick's death.
2
Why? They already did rendezvous on Gemini, years before.
2
@dagre1839 By the way, if you're referring to "suspicious behavior" in the press conference, Armstrong probably always looks like that. In the post-Gemini conference he's in, he spends ten minutes fidgeting like he has ants in his pants while talking about the "one of the most exiting things man has ever done" or whatever in the same tone of voice he'd read his grocery list in.
2
Um... Johan? Proximity suits for working in industrial kiln have resistance to radiant heat sources of up to 1500 Celsius.
2
You got duped badly, you know that right? The "fake" moon rock was never claimed to be a real one. The dude's family submitted it without having it appraised because they falsely believed it was one based on when he got it - even though it doesn't resemble any of the other moon rocks in appearance or presentation, and was received a year before the moon rocks were actually handed out. It's really pathetic that the hoaxers have to stoop to blaming NASA for something they had no part in.
1
.... because the issue is the modern technology. Apollo-era computers used a completely different type of hardware than modern computers called core rope memory. Magnetic core memory is extremely resistant to radiation and EMPs by its basic construction, but it was rendered obsolete in the 1970s because the integrated circuits that make up all of those computers you take for granted today are faster and cheaper to produce, with the downside that the smaller and more compact they get, the weaker and weaker they become to radiation, static, and EMPs. Nobody claims they lost the technology except you frauds.
1
.... because the other members of the treaty will sanction us if we disrupt that and kicking them out will more likely cause problems the treaty is intended to protect? What are you going to kick them out of next? That treaty for the whaling? Really? They won't hesitate to kill you? That's really strange considering that one of your Flat Earth "explorers" showed up there in an f-ing hurricane a few years ago and they put their lives at risk to save his ass in the middle of the storm instead of just leaving his ass to rot or killing him and saying the body was never found.. So do you have any actual proof they'd kill you beyond... you know... lying?
1
Um..... Apollo used a different type of hardware than are used by modern computers. It used magnetic core memory, a type that is extremely resistant to radiation and EMPs, but was rendered mostly obsolete in the 70s because the integrated circuits you use are cheaper and faster.
1
.... space is everything past a specific altitude. Low Earth orbit tells where it is in relation to the Earth. There's also a High Earth Orbit, which is everything orbiting past Geosynchronous Orbit.
1
Is that why the Flat Earth "scientists" have to mute people mid-debate to avoid pissing their pants live?
1
No. Telescope resolution is limited by the size of your telescope. A telescope large enough to see objects that small would be many times larger than the largest one that exists.
1
.... yes, and you can't fly to the moon without factories set up to produce your specialized equipment that nobody's used in half a century, training equipment to train your pilots, and a launch facility that we know for a fact was torn up to reuse the land for the space shuttle 40 years ago.
1
He wasn't. He died of a heart attack at the age of 70.
1
The confession's a very obvious fake. Not only do we know who made it since... you know... you can still find it and the interviewer literally calls the actor out by name, but the interviewer asks "Stanley Kubrick" about Bart Sibrel harassing the astronauts with the Bible. That's very strange, because he did between 2-5 years after Kubrick was already dead. Does critical thinking mean blindly accepting whatever you find on the internet is true?
1
@arthurpendragon3000 It's not even him. It's a fake made with an actor impersonating him made more than a decade after his death.
1
The Earth's too bright to take pictures of them both. Stars are extremely, extremely dim to cameras and you generally need exposure times several seconds long to get pictures of them, hundreds of times longer than are used for brightly-lit objects. Note that stars don't appear in pictures of the moon taken from Earth unless it's overexposed to the point that the seas are completely washed out, and the Earth is brighter than the moon is.
1
Um... they didn't use rubber tires. The rovers have wheels made of metal mesh.
1
.... but atmospheric friction doesn't exist in space.
1
@davejensen2558 That's... kind of the point of a rocket isn't it? They don't claim to have done those speeds at sea level.
1
@davejensen2558 .........IN ORBIT, where's there's no bloody air.
1
... the hell do you think is actually at Area 51? Aliens? It's most likely a military R&D base for testing their new stuff. You know, the things that they'd shoot you if you... say.... took pictures of and gave to Russia.
1
No, no it's not. Your "giant skeletons" are all scams, just like the fake ark that scientists aren't allowed to actually examine.
1
Dust doesn't float in a vacuum
1
@arronbingham6517 ..... no? They come down immediately after they stop going up.
1
There's equipment bays on the lower half of the ship. When you go on a trip, do you drive with your suitcase in your lap or do you put it in the trunk?
1
Wasn't it an invasion by aliens that you forget about when you look away? I vague remember that episode.
1
The "confession" is a fake. Not only do we know who made it, it has details that happened after Kubrick's death.
1
Ever seen the other press conferences they were in? Armstrong looks basically the same in the Gemini 8 conference, several years before that.
1
Sure they can. They just rev their engines and drive straight at it beacuse there is no firmament. It's not there.
1
STANLEY KUBRICK Here lies our love Stanley Born in New York City on 26 July 1928 Died here at home on 7 March 1999 Me thinks you're lying.
1
But the moon's not plasma, so what's your point? It's a giant rock, no matter what an old book written by goat herders says.
1
@lov3nonejg Can't think for yourself, can you?
1
@lov3nonejg Because liars are infuriating.
1
So, why does the moon behave like a Doom sprite where everybody sees the same face of it no matter where you are in relation to it? At 2,200 km, it should have more than 90 degrees of rotation between places in the Northern and Southern hemisphere it can be seen simultaneously from, and yet it doesn't. Why does it show no rotation?
1
Those maps with contour lines are hundreds of miles across.... Aren't you proving it was real? It was expected before the missions that it would be craggy because of the lack of weathering. That's why 2001 looks like rocky gorges and cliffs. And then they make a fake in complete defiance of expectations? Really? Oh, by the way. Japan converted their maps into 3D models in the early 2010s. Not only did they create smoothed dunes, they got perfect transcreation of the photograph backgrounds.
1
@gushutchinson8758 For what motive? What do they gain? This is the point where you start accusing every organization and government that has provided evidence of being "in on it too" because apparently the best way to keep the hoax plate spinning is to add more plates.
1
@gushutchinson8758 .... but you people claim that front screen projection was used, so just film it on a flat plain and use pictures of real cliffs in the background. The reality is that the moon's basically sandblasted smooth by billions of years of meteorites and no fresh volcanism to make new cliffs.
1
Sigh.... I guess Bart didn't tell you that he got caught lying about and faking evidence in that huh?
1
You..... do realize that they didn't return in the lander right? They landed in the cone-shaped piece, which has a heat shield.
1
@JacquelineMcIntoshNo1 .... so then why wouldn't it work if the heat shield isn't damaged?
1
Bart Sibrel got caught red-handed faking evidence ten years ago.
1
Yeah, composition so perfect that the most famous picture had to be edited because it was badly framed and cutting off the top of the suit.
