First of all, there are no pictures of planets outside of our own solar system. Any such "photographs" are artwork. Other planets are detected through indirect means such as the light from the star dimming as the planet passes in front of it. Second, a telescope's resolution isn't measured by how far away an object is. It's how large the object is vs its distance. All of those distant galaxies? They're HUGE. Meanwhile, you're looking for objects only a few feet across. It's like trying to say you shouldn't be able to see a mountain poking over the horizon because you can't see a flea a hundred feet away.
