I think you're being waaaay too dramatic. And based on your investigation, James didn't specifically "figure out" anything about the algorithm; instead, the YT algorithm picked up and started suggesting his videos. It's happening to one of my son's videos right now - 4 months after being uploaded.

@MagnatesMedia True, it has nothing to do with luck, but doing certain things consistently. That's how I got my channel monetized in about 7 months with 30-something videos and all that information can be found on channels like ThinkMedia, for example. If anything, he figured out that a certain audience loves his doom & gloom "documentaries".
